No Debates Unless Trump Releases His Taxes

First, Biden should declare that he will take part in a debate only if Trump releases his tax returns for 2016 through 2018. Biden has already done so, and they are on his website. Trump must, too. No more gifting Trump something he can attack while hiding his own questionable finances.
Of course, Trump will stomp and protest and say, “No way.” Fine. Let Trump cancel. Let Trump look American voters in the eye and say: “There will be no debate, because I should be able to continue hiding my tax returns from you all, even though I promised that I wouldn’t and even though Biden has shown you his.

That sounds good in theory but Biden has already agreed to the 3 debates and lost any bargaining power this may have allowed him....sorta like narrowing himself into a corner on picking a female VP and now increasingly being pushed to "choose a woman of color" on top of that.

Despite a pandemic and the subsequent economic free-fall, Trump's reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee announced Wednesday evening they had raised $266 million for the three months ending June 30, including $131 million in June alone.
A few hours later, Biden's campaign and the Democratic National Committee announced that they had eclipsed Trump's totals, bringing in $282 million during the last quarter and $141 million in June.
It's the second month in a row that Biden has outraised Trump's campaign.
It's highly unusual for a challenger's campaign to raise more money than an incumbent president's.

Right? If the primaries are any indicator, tallying the votes in this year's general election could make the 2000 Florida recount look like tha Evelyn Wood School of Speed Reading. It is significant that Biden has been hitting 50% or better nationally across different polls and especially doing well in key 'swing' states....while ConDon has been spending large(r) sums in places that do not make much sense. Granted, he has been forced to defend places like AZ, GA, KS, and TX. LOL.
On the impending election snafus, I have been fairly concerned about the concerted efforts by this administration to defund, decentralize, and smother the FEC. It seems like their strategy has conversely been one of "packing the courts." Great.

IMHO Biden should debate Trump. I agree with what James Carville said:
James Carville: Tom Friedman is a very nice guy, he writes very well about climate. I like to read his columns. But he ought to stay away from writing about politics. Of course, Biden wants to debate Trump. Trump is a doofus-dolt. Biden debated Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, who’s the most on-message politician I’ve seen in my life, Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar.
I saw him the night before South Carolina. He did very well. He should debate him without condition anywhere that he wants to. Joe Biden will trounce Donald Trump. What he needs is to be sure to get a picture side by side so you can see how fit and trim Vice President Biden is and what a slob that Trump is.
No, Tom Friedman is dead wrong on this. I’m sure that Biden people will be very well briefed to have the debates. I don’t think Trump will show up. I don’t think Trump will get anywhere around a debate with Joe Biden. Joe Biden has debated some of the most articulate, bright, message-disciplined people I’ve ever seen in my life. So, I’m sorry, Tom, I like you, you’re a nice guy, but that was a waste of ink.
