New Year's Day Car Crash -- How Auspicious !!

Forums:

So about 4:30 PM on 1/1/2020 some bloke rear - ended me.  I'm stopped before a one-lane narrow bridge and BOOM !! CRUNCH !!

I am fine and Hüsky is fine.  My 3/4 ton truck has damage to rear bumper and frame.

Here I'm thinking,  "2020 will be a very Groovy New Year",  and then "Oh Krap,  someone just crashed my truck..."

Of course this is all out in the middle of nowhere,  a quiet idyllic country lane with little traffic.
Really hoping that the other driver has car insurance.

Otherwise I must learn a new hobby -- Welding.

Happy to see that you and H.I.M. are fine.

A crash on New Years Day is Good Luck  -   in Haiti.

Glad to hear all ok. Resilience

Ras -- "they"  need to round up a more professional hit squad if they expect to cause me and Hüsky any serious damage.

This is just yet another minor inconvenience.

Truck made it home,  but the rear lights and bumper are not quite up to spec.
Too bad,  really.  It will be a couple weeks before it can get repaired.

Meanwhile,  a buddy offered to let me borrow his spare vehicle if needed.

What did the other driver say when you asked at the scene of the accident? Did you 2 exchange info ?

Driver probably offered some generic phish nonsense

how fitting .....

Disco, that was a sign, you must do Maui half-Nelson!  It will counteract the car crash stress!

My old gmail box has been Dead for a long time.  I would post the new one here,  but internet stalkers.

Thanks for thinking of me.  Truck will be just fine eventually.

So, did the other driver have insurance?

How is H.I.S. "truck" ?

Thanks for your feedback.  Are you experienced in the car insurance field,  or the adventure of processing claims in an expedient manner ?

It would be interesting to read your tips and experiences regarding that subject.  No doubt,  I could be overlooking some aspect of the process.

So far,  I've dealt with the accident scene and associated cops / ambulance / fire truck which appeared there...
The cops said to proceed on my way with caution (truck looks a bit ragged after getting rear-ended).

Spoke with my insurance co. and the other driver's insurance co.  Contacted a few body shops in my area to arrange for an estimate on my damages.
Their (other driver's) insurance co. returned my calls and initiated a claim,  so now I'm looking for them to provide a rental Truck for me while mine gets repaired.  Sooner the Better;  Truck is my conveyance and also provides a platform for Firewood Delivery.

In 99.9 % of rear-end traffic accidents,  the driver who crashed the other vehicle is considered at fault and their insurance co. pays for the damages.

Thanks in advance for your positive advice regarding the situation.
