New Paltz Rainbow Crosswalk

Forums:

New Paltz, NY was the scene of a couple of dozen "illegal" gay marriages in 2004 - helping to push the issue forward.

Locals are raising funds to create a rainbow crosswalk at the site, and its a bit more complicated than anyone thought. Any hand painted crosswalk will quickly begin to fade, and the lowest quote for a pro line painting by machine was $14,000 (!)

Local company willing to do it for $5K.   GoFundMe link:  https://www.gofundme.com/paint-the-village-rainbow/

Get the feeling that half of the Hudson Valley will want to take a photo at that site when done ( Pride March in June will use crosswalk as their finish line ....)

Cool, donster. Can I steal your post to help get the word out on Spacebook?

Yo Don. Cool post. A serious main street food fair  with a post tripping fields super keg party with live music would raise some dough? No small task but if sponsored by the fire department it could happen.

DJ .... take my post - please

KK - the Mayor who did the marriages squeaked into office by a slim margin.  Many attributed that to the kegger on campus across the street from Village Hall.  And you thought that you were kidding.

Cool. New Paltz leads the way once again. Jason may have squeaked in with a campus kegger, but he is back to painting houses, his 15 minutes are up.

True that Howard,

But Jason  West  (post Mayor)   has created and led the Impressive Wallkill Valley Watershed Alliance. He is not an empty suit.

The wildlife footage after 2:20 is impressive  https://www.gofundme.com/paint-the-village-rainbow/

Good work by Jason West since h was Mayor.. He's a good and sincere man who did so much to move a progressive community move forward.

Rainbow Crosswalks dedicated to Jason West would be a good idea IMHO.
