An incredible coral reef freshly discovered off the coast of Tahiti. Something new old and beautiful doing it's own thing in it's own time with no need for human existence. Hopefully, we don't fuck this up too. And, actually, it's very hopeful there are more incredible treasures due to only 20% of the world's seabeds being mapped.

“To date, we know the surface of the Moon better than the deep ocean. Only 20 percent of the entire seabed has been mapped,” Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO Director-General, said in a statement.

Amazing! I just hope it's not going to be ruined by tourism. The natural beauty of French Polynesia is really special. I visited there in August and it was still as pristine as it was 25 years ago when I first went. Love the ocean ecosystems!

Luckily it is deeper than
Luckily it is deeper than most reefs but the camera crew was not exactly practicing reef-safe 'no-touch' tactics either.

Scuba Jerry wasn't too good
Scuba Jerry wasn't too good at being reef safe no touch either. I always cringed when seeing The Fat Man diving video.

Yes. Hopefully it's deep enough to continue living in healthy waters and growing and staying pristine on its own, but now that it's been discovered...
