New COVID Entry Rules for MSG

Forums:

Great news! Starting on April 1, we are pleased that guests will have three options for entry to Madison Square Garden: proof of a negative antigen COVID-19 test, negative PCR COVID-19 test or full COVID-19 vaccination. For additional information about these new guidelines, see below.

What are the testing requirements for attending an event starting April 1?

We are pleased that starting April 1, guests have three options to demonstrate they are eligible to attend an event. Please note the required timeframes associated with each option so you can plan ahead accordingly:

Proof of a negative antigen COVID-19 test taken within six hours of the event start time OR

Proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the day of the event OR

Proof of vaccination. It is important to note that you must be fully vaccinated, which means the day of your event must be at least 14 days after your second dose of the Pfizer-BioNtech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine or at least 14 days after your single dose of the Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.

Your documentation must be directly from the healthcare provider that performed the test or vaccination. You can display your test results or proof of vaccination on your smartphone or present a physical copy.

For each option, anyone 18 years or older must also present a government-issued ID such as driver’s license or passport. Those younger than 18 may use a government-issued ID, birth certificate, social security card, school ID, or locally-issued ID.

*Please note that there may be additional requirements and restrictions for some ticket holders in specific seat locations which will be communicated directly to those ticket buyers.

I suspect this will be the norm for big public events.

Israel has issued "Green Passports" to everyone who has been vaccinated over there and it allows people to get into concerts, restaurants, clubs, gatherings, etc.

All the anti-vaxxers will be shopping the dark web for fake green cards. LOL

It will be interesting to see how this works out, since a lot of places are just providing people with handwritten cards to document their vaccinations. Will scalpers be working outside of venues selling bogus vaccination documents?

It will be a cottage industry.

One of the nurses at the County Public Health event where I got my vacc's suggesting making a copy of my card and having the original laminated.

But even though vaccinated, can't I still get Covid and pass it on? If I get it, it will be much less severe, but still viable, right? Not sure that that should be the standard for entry.

>>If I get it, it will be much less severe, but still viable, right?

That's what I've come to believe. You have less chance of getting it. If you do, you can still pass it on. You have 0% chance of dying or being hospitalized, and 74-95% less chance of getting even moderately sick.

I guess the thought is, if everyone is vaccinated it may get passed around, but it'll be a dud.

I'm not sure how it works for just those who are currently negative bu with no vaccine. They can still get it and get really sick. Maybe they figure that there just won't be much in the air to catch?

Now that we have been vaccinating people for many months now, there is enough data to conclude that being vaccinated significantly reduces the chance of passing it on to others.  A study out of Israel showed an 89% reduction in transmission while a similar study in the UK showed an 86% reduction.   Transmission is largely driven by viral load.   When one is vaccinated and exposed to Covid, the virus doesn't multiple and one's viral load is much less, making it much less likely you will pass it on.

Thanks for reminding me about those Important Facts. I have no interest in going to MSG but I will want to be in groups at some point in my lifetime.

Heady shot cards yo.  The Dr is in the hissay!

Trump didn't teach us much but if there is one thing we learned from him it is that this...

>>>Proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the day of the event

...will do absolutely nothing to prevent anyone from getting covid.

I am vaccinated, yet am having trouble with foreign governments and the us government when coming back from traveling abroad.  Basically governments are still requiring negative test results and 10 plus days of quarantine.  I guess they're concerned about the 5% possiblity that a vaccinated person can contract covid?

Does the recent vaccine protect you from the new strains that have emerged in South Africa and Brasil? I think not and they don't know yet. Plus the vaccine isn't 100% anyways  I don't trust nothing yet. I think it's still way too early to get your hopes up. I would lean on the cautious side especially if your in the category of high risk people. .

The J&J vaccine was tested in both Brazil and South Africa, and is effective against both of those variants.

But isn't the J&J vaccine only 65% effective?

Madison Square Garden in Manhattan -- (New York City).  Topic of this thread.

I can honestly say that it sucked Donkey balls last time I attended.  Saw a couple Phish shows during the Baker's Dozen run.

Phish were just fine,  and the (then New) lighting rig was Awesome.

Venue gestapo-like security were a big downer.  They were practically strip-searching people and stealing their Weed,  and just generally rude.  Punks actually made fun of my Shoes,  no shit.

A once-Great arena in the past;  too bad it turned into a steaming pile of Krap.  I'll sort of miss it,  like "Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips".

Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips is a fast food seafood restaurant chain. At the peak of its popularity in the late 1970s, it had about 800 stores.

As of 2020, there are believed to be only seven stand-alone locations remaining: four in Ohio (Austintown, Cuyahoga Falls and Garfield Heights, and one located in the Two Oaks gas station near Pomeroy), two in New York, and two in New Jersey (one of which is located inside the Molly Pitcher Service Area of the New Jersey Turnpike

. Some Nathan's Famous locations also offer select Arthur Treacher's menu items

I really don't have a problem with some sort of covid/vaccination passport going forward. IMO, this pandemic is only the tip of the iceberg and we need to be prepared for the next one which will probably make Covid-19 look like a case of the sniffles. We've fucked Mother Earth 10 ways to Sunday and she has responded with a very large strap on, doesn't plan on using lube and doesn't plan on stopping.

Of course even the above MSG rules are probably going to be thrown out. Already there are 3 suits filed that say that what they are doing is racially and economically motivated to keep poor people of color away from MSG
