Name That Star

Forums:

I'm messing around with my photos and have some time to waste some time, so let's play, Name That Star...

(If you can name the venues you win a cookie)

I can’t name any of them but they are fun to see. Thanks, Lance.

Second shot, Boz Scaggs at Moscone Center, '82.

I know the big hat guy but can't think of him now.

Good shots Lance.

I only took the second, third & sixth photos. I wish I'd taken the first photo but I was a little too young. I was at the show where the fourth shot was taken but I didn't take the photo.

The fifth shot is actually a pretty famous photo. And a sad one.

But he was a star.

Sid Barrett

candy samples

Big Hat Guy looks like David Lee Roth dressed as EVH's guitar.

#1 Rod Stewart ,,,at the Filmore West,,,?

#1 looks like Van Morrison at the mic.  He's got a guitar strapped on, though, and I don't recall Van playing electric guitar.  Same for Rod Stewart.  Maybe Eric Burdon & The Animals?

Big hat guy is definitely DLR.

Is that Syd Barrett in #5?

Chuck Berry or Screaming Jay Hawkins in #6?

The photo of the red rocker is the red rocker.

M.C. Hammer in #4?

At shoreline

Top photo venue is the Cow Palash --pretty sure

Syd in the second to the bottom picture.  Red Rocker in the giant cowboy hat.

Ok.  Who is this?

Jimmy Page (young).jpg

George Harrison?

Jerome!

They start out so innocently.

I think you're right about Jerry, Sigmund.

Portland Ken's photo is this guy; page1.jpg

my guess on the others:

1. Bobby Darin (?)

2. Boz/GD

3. Sammy Hagar

4. McHammer

5. Fat Syd Barrett

6. Carol Doda (?)

Are those binoculars all lit up in the audience in the top photo?

Could very well be Hagar.

Is the kid Ozzy?  Look at his eyes.

Yep Burnz.  Jimmy was a guitar prodigy, making appearances on BBC tv shows at age 13.

>>>>Is the kid Ozzy?  Look at his eyes.

Nailed it.

No one's gotten #1 yet, but Klondell got the venue right. And nice work from Don Volume, that last shot is indeed the SF legend Carol Doda.

Her performance immediately preceded this one at a benefit show at the Warfield in '86...

She was one hell of an opening act.

^The BEATLES!!!

???

Well, it's a Beatle, from a Beatles show at the Cow Palace.

Fans stormed the stage and one stole Lennon's cap.

I've always wondered where that cap is now. Probably worth a couple of bucks.

Lance, did you take that photo?!

If so, bravo!

Well no, I didn't take that shot.

The Beatles played the Cow Palace twice, in 1964 & 1965, so I was either four or five at the time.

IMO I'm not a bad photographer, but in those days I was more into Lincoln Logs.

Who is this levitating and where? (this one's kinda famous);

Common'. That's Jim Morrison at the Fillmore East.

OK, here's another one (I took this shot) because why not?

The guitar player is easy, but who is the bass player???

clapton2_0.jpg

another riot going on shot of the Beatles - at the Cow....1965

beatels cow.jpg

The bass player in Lance's photo is former Rolling Stone Billiam Wyman, looks like the ARMS Benefit show from '83.

Who are these guys? (hint- we opened for the Dead in 1969)
