Many people trim up their dogs for hot Summer weather; keeps 'em cool. A buddy had Border Collies that were fine with the early Summer coat removal, it grew back by September.
I looked into the concept when I adopted H.I.M. a couple years ago, but with double-coated dawgs it's a no-go. Fur won't grow back right.
He's been pretty slow with this latest heat spell... Went to Dog Park yesterday as it was cooling down and the shade kicked in. He ran with his German Shepherd and Pitt Bull buddies, but not too quickly. Then he went to a nice air-conditioned store, which seemed to chill H.I.M. out.
That's been my hot-weather technique in conjunction with swims in the lake, river, creek or pool.
Since no one here has ever seen images of my Local Hüsky, here ya go. This is in the Jerseyland side Canal off the Delaware near Lambertville / New Hope.
He looks pretty happy, and stank of Duck poop for a while.
Any Eastern zoners work in the Frozen Vegetable industry, Hüsky would enjoy visiting your gigantic freezer warehouse some fine morning, to Chill out and do Rodent patrol.
He will definitely kill any Mice or whatever rodents. No charge. Freezing temperatures are Huge Fun for H.I.M.
