My new Venus Fly Traps arrived today, kiss my ass bugs!!!

Forums:

I'm now the proud father of 2 new Venus Fly Traps; a "Carolina Red Trap", and a "Pinnacle."

I use to grow them and other predatory plants years ago, but a harsh winter outbreak took them out. Originally there were only 2 types, both native to the outer banks of North Carolina, now, thanks to selective breeding, there's dozens of types! Hope they enjoy their new home, as they can live in captivity for 20 years!

Feed me, Seymour!

Beautiful plants, but mama taught me well when I was a maggot, so I'll stay away.

One question- why are they all in cups of fried rice?

Really taking your fly character to the next level in here, Fly.

Great zoning, man.

Hey slim, is that a cigarette burn on your ascot?

smooth move Droob

I need a couple of those little carnivores

What's the medium that you're growing them in?

Those are not  'fried rice'.

They are the carcasses of Brine Shrimp,  AKA 'Sea Monkeys'.

Carnivorous plants love that Briney flavour.

They like sphagnum peat moss for the growing medium, maybe a little sand or perlite (mineral free growing medium)...   definitely no standard soils, No tap water (distilled or rain water only), No fertilizers, and they need several hours (at least 4) of direct sun every day.  And they do like maggots (a maggot a day keeps the flys at bay)

Recently got one of these electric fly swatters. The thing is great
