I'm now the proud father of 2 new Venus Fly Traps; a "Carolina Red Trap", and a "Pinnacle."
I use to grow them and other predatory plants years ago, but a harsh winter outbreak took them out. Originally there were only 2 types, both native to the outer banks of North Carolina, now, thanks to selective breeding, there's dozens of types! Hope they enjoy their new home, as they can live in captivity for 20 years!

Those are not 'fried rice'.
Those are not 'fried rice'.
They are the carcasses of Brine Shrimp, AKA 'Sea Monkeys'.
Carnivorous plants love that Briney flavour.

They like sphagnum peat moss
They like sphagnum peat moss for the growing medium, maybe a little sand or perlite (mineral free growing medium)... definitely no standard soils, No tap water (distilled or rain water only), No fertilizers, and they need several hours (at least 4) of direct sun every day. And they do like maggots (a maggot a day keeps the flys at bay)
