But Seriouslee, I did enjoy the set they played @ Peach Fest this past summer, despite the harsh conditions (pouring rain & the entire festival crowded into the small tent). Was hoping to see them on their own again soon but heard they're taking a hiatus in 2018. Probably for the better, lots of folks @ the Peach set seemed like Poseurs just there to scream every time Jim screamed (of course that always happens @ festivals no matter what band it is). They do seem to be attaining that critical mass audience appeal/acceptance at which point they will no longer be the darlings of critics & hipsters, but rather mocked by them, as has happened to the Foo Fighters & U2 before them . . .
I assume no streams? Assuming this is west coast so just starting now . . .
Wonderful show tonight. Band went on late but treated us to a monster performance.
At Dawn to open, some old school love with Heartbreakin' Man/Evelyn early in the set. A rare Aluminum Park was a nice surprise. Highlights were a transcendent War Begun, some killer Bowie with Rebel Rebel, and arguably the best Dondante we've ever heard in Colorado.
Jim James didn't sit in with The Revolution, which was disappointing. I honestly wasn't blow away by their set, but still cool to see them.
Looking forward to the next two days. Steam info here:
At dawn opener is perfect to start an epic run, good going on the 1st night heavy dondante too.
this should all pan out quite nicely.
I've heard the revolution feels a little empty live, what with the giant purple elephant not in the room, but am very surprised there was no cross pollination sit ins between their set and mmj's.

Great show tonight. They opened with Circuital and a dark/light theme with Off The Record, The Dark, The Way That He Sings, and First Light.
Highlights for me were an absolutely monster Master Plan, Easy Morning Rebel w/ full horns, Pictire Of You, and (God help me for saying so), I'm Amazed, which somehow featured an extended outro that burned the fuckin' house down.
State Of The Art (AEIOU) has become a true powerhouse in MMJ's live arsenal. Also, they played a full Run Thru tonight, so nevermind what I said about that one they didn't play the night before. That was the disruption of the space/time continuum talking.

Listening to video on You Tube right now of 12/31 1st set. I think this is the only band in the world I can absolutely LOVE and HATE all @ the same time . . .
I've heard a lot of criticism of the NYE show in general, but I think people are missing the point. It was a dance party. That's all it needed to be.
If you want a 25 minute Dondante, they delivered that on Friday night when the venue was half full with hardcore fans. If you want a raging Masterplan, they did that Saturday night when the venue was full(er), but still mostly stacked with the hardcores.
Personally, I enjoyed the NYE show. They did a nice job of mixing in moments for the core fanbase (Magic Bullet ftp, a solid Gideon, a massive Phone Went West) with the funkier, dance-centeric cuts and cover songs.
By MMJ standards, I'm not saying the NYE show was anything close to a classic; but they delivered a solid show and it was unquestionably a fantastic party.
I'm just going by listening to it as I'm on the computer/ eating/ cooking dinner/ doing housework/ etc. & I barely am learning the songs, every once in a while "oh I recognize this one". I always take my time getting to know a band nowadays, as once I do know a band well, I get bored pretty quickly (I'm in that space w/Mule & Panic by now, & certainly so w/ex GD band members & GD cover bands & the GD songbook in general).
Well Mule's New Year's shoe was very Enjoyable for me, & when I think of Very White Hipsters Dancing to MMJ, I picture that video of me getting my Autistic Twerk on whilst tripping balls on synthetic Chinese bath salt Molly.
