My mom

Forums:

Look at these two.

momdad 001.jpg

Strolling down Market Street in the late 1940's, this photo was taken directly in front of the Warfield Theater, a place I imagine the vast majority of those reading this post have stood many times.

That's my mom & dad. A couple of stunners IMO. What the hell happened to ME I always asked?!?!

They must have found me in the bushes.

Well, at the age of 96 my mom passed away this morning. She's been in failing health and we knew it was coming but damn it still hurts, more than I expected given that I've had time to get ready.

But I guess you can never really get ready for this.

Anyway, I'm feeling misty and VLZUTI and felt like posting this, so indulge me.

What a couple eh?

two movie stars out for a stroll!!

and no, never quite ready, fo sure...

sorry for your loss, Lance....raise your glass high...

I'm sorry you lost your mom Lance. A hard time for sure, no matter what the circumstance.

What a special photo of your folks, so cool on its own, but knowing they are in front of the

Warfield must be amazing for you, considering all the times you (many of us) were there.

Take care man. Wishing you the best.

Dear Lance, she was beautiful and your dad was such a looker, too. They are something special together.

Your loss is deep and shocking, it turns out there's no way to really be prepared. I'm sorry.

Much love, you are held in our hearts.

Much love brother.

Such a classy couple.

Your Mom has gone on.

my condolences, Lance

I'll be dealing with a similar loss perhaps within the next few years... my mom is 87 and dad is 91... this past July my brothers and I moved them out of their home of 45 years into an independent living facility near Syracuse, NY... thankfully, they both have good mental faculties (but they do have mobility issues), and both have adapted very well to their new living arrangement

Judit and others are right, there really is no way to prepare oneself for the loss of a parent... try to focus on the good times and positive memories

((((( strength and resolve )))))

Aw.  Sorry, Lance.

Yesterday (my birthday) was the 7th ann'y of my Mom's wake.  She passed on the day we flew my son off to college and was waked on my birthday.

Sort of our own "Days Between" thingy.

Condolences, Brother.

My Condolences Lance

Sorry your hurting brother

Lance our friend

I know that you were a loving and doting son

nearby and  close and loving right till this chapter was written and the next verse begins

and you were both so lucky to have each other

i'm glad they found you in the bushes and I couldn't agree more from a physical standpoint

And I'm sure a tiny bit of their Grace flowed into that Warfield building and through Jerry iand Carlos and all of the amazing musicians that have blessed us in that shrine

But it's clear they taught you well and passed on many fine qualities and I hope that you are eternally grateful

I went to two services recently and I'm going to share a quote of something I wrote and read on Tuesday

"it's not a time to mourn the loss

but rather a time to celebrate the gain"

blessings and  joy in your sorrow

Very sorry for your loss, Lance.

Our most heartfelt condolences, Lance.

So sorry for your loss Lance. That pic is so great. Good looking couple.

I've lost both my parents in the last 2 1/2 years. Just as you say, no matter how you think you're "ready", whatever that means, it's still a kick in the heart.

After four days of family being together, gathered round her bed, spending time, and holding her hand, the finality still was heartbreaking with my mom.

I sincerely wish you much love and heart strength as you navigate these days. One great thing is going through all the photos, and I hope they bring you joy and good memories.

Lance- When I picture you through the black screen. I see a lot of you in that pic.

Outgoing, confident, and a class act.

Sorry for your loss brother.

Hey thanks everybody.

It's been a couple of days and I just looked at this now; I really appreciate all the good & thoughtful words.

I'm usually not one for these type of threads, especially when one starts it themself, but it just sort of went that way, and I sure did like seeing that photo when I opened this thread just now.

I've always loved that photo.

Anyway, all is well and on it goes.

Thanks again.

Nice work backroads

Our condolences Tom.

Great photo, a dapper-looking couple!

BTW, thanks for the effort and excellent work on the photo Backroads Bill.

That's very cool and naturally I saved it, but I'm not sure which version I like better. There's something about the imperfections that fits the photo to me.

Still, that was very thoughtful and is very appreciated.

And Jammin' Joel, you crack me up.

Thanks again everyone.

I am very sorrowful for your loss,  Mr. Lance.

My Heartfelt condolences go out to You,  and Family.
