I just read about this & it sucks! Musician David Deporis was killed on Wed. 8/9 after his laptop was stolen from him in Oakland, CA.
I sincerely hope that the scumbag thieves who victimized David Deporis get busted & the sooner the better. I put nothing past Zonahs!

Dave Deporis, 40, was a talented musician who was tragically killed in Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood on Wednesday 8/9/17.
He was a musician living in Oakland who reminded friends of an experimental Bob Dylan, with a raspy voice and an aptitude for throwing singer-songwriter conventions to the wind in the pursuit of his art.
Dave Deporis was killed in the middle of the day Wednesday in Oakland when he ran after the getaway car of the robber who took his laptop and ended up being dragged and run over, police said.
The incident unfolded about 12:35 p.m. when at least one person snatched Deporis’ laptop as he worked at a cafe on Telegraph Avenue, near Rich Street, in the Temescal neighborhood, police said.
Witnesses said the 40-year-old Deporis grabbed on to the side of a red Audi sport utility vehicle the robber jumped in and was briefly dragged until he slipped beneath the wheels of the vehicle and was run over.
No arrests were made in the robbery, and Deporis was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
“The saddest news. ... I’m so sorry to hear it. ... Rest In Peace,” popular singer Regina Spektor wrote of Deporis in a condolence posted on Twitter.
Deporis kept all of his music on the stolen laptop, said Chris Vogel, a close friend. That’s everyone’s best guess for why he chased down that Audi, Vogel said.

This is about 8 blocks away
This is about 8 blocks away from where I hangout (Kingfish/Coz/The Ave) and generally the Temescal neighborhood is usually safe but not in this instance. Then again I've had my car broken into and backpack stolen 3 times in last 6 years and someone tried to carjack me about 8 months ago. Maybe that's why I have a love/hate relationship with Oakland.
Neighborhood businesses need to pool together there money and hire armed guards (off duty police) to walk there district and confront these punks and there crimes of opportunity. Most of Oakland is closed by 10pm so as to not be robbed...SAD!. Also put plate reading video camera's on getaway route freeway entrances such as 52nd/Shattuck on-ramp and 51st/MLK on-ramp these two ramps lead to highways 580/24/980/80/880.

It seemed like right after this happened the Red Audi getaway car was in the story & then even the next day that info wasn't being included in the story, not sure why, but it seemed like that was all there was to go on.
