Mr. Yes!

Forums:

That's what Karl Denson called Phil after his devastating half-hour or so sit-in with Denson's band at TxR last night.

"Mr. Yes!!! That's his name, Mr. YES!!!"

Good grief Phil was thumping it, vibrating my eyeballs while he & Denson's band RIPPED their way through a Stones song, a blistering Viola Lee Blues and a long jamming Shakedown Street.

I don't know if they were breaking new ground, but it was absolutely great live music, Phil was brilliant and the entire two & a half hour show was a red-hot funky party.

They blew the roof off that little place last night.

It's amazing how often they've had to rebuild the roof on that room over the past five years, with no signs of that stopping any time soon.

Far out.

DJ Williams is a Beast.

Local boy made good.  He's played in a buddy's trio for years and I even got them for one of my parties.

Glad he got out of that drug charge in Dubai for a pen that was found. Not too smart of a move on his part to try and bring it, though.

Shit, I'd have to get all new luggage if I ever went to Dubai.

Never miss a KDTU-with-Phil-sit-in show!!!

That was HOT!

"Do you know any KDTU songs, Phil?

"No."

Looks and sounds like another killer night at TXR.

Karl always brings the FUNK!

so i take it it was sans kitchen all-stars?

Try to keep up Turtle. The smokin' good show at TxR with the Family Band was last week. This one last night was Denson's show.

BTW, his entire band was first rate and yes, DJ Williams ripped it up all night, but who was the bass player? She was damn good, is she always in his band? She looked just like a bass player I've often seen in one of the late-night talk show bands, I can't remember which show, I think the one with the English guy who sings in his car.

Either way, she kicked ass all night.

And hey Johnny, I looked around for you but for once I actually found a spot right in the front on Phil's side early and then over by the ADA later, so I wasn't able to do my usual scope the crowd from the back bit. Sorry I missed you.

Yes Children Yes

I was fortunate enough 2 B at TXR on September 4, 2016.  First time I got to see Karl Denson & Tiny Universe. So fun. smiley
