Cannabis Reform Dead In Congress After Objections From Republicans.   Lawmakers couldn’t even agree to approve a modest bill allowing cannabis businesses access to banking.

Congress won’t include any cannabis provisions in its year-end spending package, dooming the chances of an overhaul of marijuana laws for the foreseeable future.

Not only will Congress fail to legalize marijuana this year, lawmakers couldn’t even agree to include a modest anti-crime cannabis reform as part of a $1.7 trillion government funding bill set to pass this week.

Reformers had hoped lawmakers would include a bipartisan measure allowing cannabis companies to open bank accounts. Currently, even if a business operates in a state with legal weed, most banks won’t take the firm’s deposits because marijuana remains illegal under federal law.

As a result, most cannabis firms are forced to operate on a cash-only basis, making them easy targets for criminals.

Several top Republican senators, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and John Cornyn (R-Texas), opposed the banking provision.

the war is designed to be continuous

Yea, Mitch is surely no fan and he continually  blocks all things related. A few years ago he went to CA to see "the market", touring different operations and facilities - which was never going to change his mind anyway. It seemed like we were getting close to something favorable in a bipartisan manner but the flared-up partisanship seemed to quell that. Putting it to 'the voters' seems to generally be relatively successful and a good idea, as ever. Anyway, ole Mitch seems to prefer the high tax, no deduction scenario that any CannaBiz faces under the current quasi-'legal' scheme.

...plus, KY Bourbon is totally harmless too, right?

Shocking

Champions of Alcohol and disease causing, chemically laced, processed tobacco win again.

I wonder why someone has not taken bitch out. Long over due.

Another one of the issues that clearly demonstrates that falsehood so many here love to claim about both parties being the same.

um, no

Freedom and commerce....

A fair shake would be nice.

Some excellent buds would be even better than any shake.

Never heard a politically named strain yet.

Obama Kush is actually a staple around here

Fucking cunts need to die off already

Good one, Surf. Lol

Obviously not the same, Nancy. But they are owned by the same. And the overall agenda is the same. They all play their parts very well.

In the very recent past, both parties (singularly) have had the ability and the opportunity to reschedule, decriminalize, and/or overhaul federal cannabis laws (CSA) as a standalone issue via simple majority.

In fact, the Democrats have the ability to do this right now

why won't they? Instead, the move is to just tie it to some other unrelated political issue where it quickly dies, and then so the other guy can be quickly blamed.

This is actually a pretty decent example of the same
