Crazy disaster. I understand the building was constructed in the 1980s, so I don't see how any of the original designers and contractors (assuming they are still around) could be liable. But whoever has been charged with keeping an eye on things since then likely dropped the ball. How does something like this happen? I have heard speculation that the salt air could have corroded the rebar reinforcement in the concrete.
Hope they are able to rescue everyone still trapped in the rubble.
