Need more transparency to get to records so we can see if people are even being disciplined for lying.  It is ridiculously hard to get information on police records, even when due process is at stake. Make sure they ARE being disciplined for lying and also for turning a blind eye while a brother officer lies.  More accountability for use of force (obviously).  Somehow we HAVE to change the internal thinking that allows cops to kill someone because they MIGHT be armed, COULD HAVE BEEN armed, did not prove that they were not armed.  Protocols that require cops to give a person a fair opportunity to surrender.  And if you violate those protocols and someone dies, even if it was an accident and you were just afraid, you lose your job. Have a failsafe where your job can be saved by a blue ribbon commission if it was determined that it was necessary, but those "pardons" should be few and far between, well publicized, the honchos should feel uncomfortable granting them.  The default of cops being sanctioned to kill simply because they are afraid of an unknown needs to be turned on its head.   Many agencies allow for cops to turn off the car and body cams while they are speaking to each other and not to the suspect/witness.  No.  I have personally heard recordings when the someone neglected to do that and they were discussing how to write the report to justify the illegal action.  In particular, if someone has been injured by use of force, then the recording continues.

Police training at the academies needs to change. Training mostly done by current members of the force, so it prob. won't change unless the states step in and change the curriculum and training protocols.

Yeah.  Nothing new here.   But with people videotaping everything, we actually get to see what happens and its sick.  Just like that cop down in South Carolina who shot the guy running away in the back and then moved evidence around to cover up the murder.   You always heard about cops carrying a throw away pistol to plant on somebody in case they shoot an unarmed suspect, but seeing it for yourself is really disturbing and makes one distrust everything cops say and do. 

As for cops treatment of blacks and whites, I know that I got away with so much shit when I was a teenager that would have resulted with me being beat up or worse by the cops had I been black.   Instead, the cops would always tell us "you boys cut that out and get on home"

I guess it shouldn't matter when being stopped and detained in the shithole which is Nebraska for what?  Guess it shouldn't matter being stopped and owning a home in Humboldt Park (Chicago) because I'm white in the wrong neighborhood.  Where do you live?  Some heady place on the west coast?

There is a difference between how black and white are treated, and moreso, how quick a cop feels there is a threat worth killing over.  That sort of inner bias is going to take a long time to entirely remove which is why it has to be broken down to procedures and protocols.  I am sorry to all the intuitive cops, but blame yours brothers whose intuition is getting innocent people killed. White people do get mistreated too, think back to that Australian woman who called the cops and got shot for it last year.  Hold them to blame for all of it, but yes, I think everyone recognizes that cops are quicker on the trigger with black folks.  Unfortunately though unless we get access to police personnel records to know when and how often and in what circumstances people are complying with or being disciplined due to protocols, reforms, etc whatever the cops promise to do, it isn't worth much.  You need to be able to track how it is going in between shootings.

I know a lot of cops and I don't want to see them hurt but I also see shady shit.  Most of the cops I know are good guys.  However, I have also seen good guys turn shady or entirely not good after being in the field for awhile.  It would help to remove some of the bad apples who are infecting the group, but there will always be some good guys who can't handle the pressures of being a cop without taking shortcuts or losing their professionalism when they think no one is looking or will tell on them.  That's true in all fields but cops must be held to the higher standard that their pay and benefits, and the respect that society gives them, reflect.

Cops treated me like shit numerous times when I was a young man. 

Recently, I worked out in a public gym for several years before I built my home gym. It's a small town and there are only two gyms, this happened to be the gym all the police worked out at. It's literally the only time I've interacted with cops outside of them being on duty or at the gun range.

I am intimated by police, but I tried to be friendly with them because I felt like I had a chip on my shoulder. They were clique-ish and standoffish. One of them refused to even acknowledge I was talking to him. He acted like I wasn't there. There was one young cool guy, but the rest were straight up asshole meatheads. 

I realize my sample size is small, but I already thought they were psychopaths and they didn't pass the test when I gave them a chance to be a normal human being. Fuck them, I'd be happy to never interact with one for the rest of my life. I'm intellectually fine with stereotyping them wholesale.

When I call cops to report a crime, all they do is fill out paperwork and leave.

When I called cops to report being stalked by a stranger they said it was probably my fault for encouraging in some way, was I a prostitute maybe? On the other hand, cops did recover my stolen car once. Point for each side.

Cops in Baltimore testified to carrying B.B. guns to plant on people they shot or hit with their car.
