Beaver Moon Lunar Eclipse, November 18 / 19 2021

We have the longest Lunar Eclipse in quite some time on Thursday night, hopefully the weather will cooperate for everyone (doubtful here in the PNW)

Here's some times for Eugene, OR (should be similar around the west coast, east coast times adjust 3 hours)

Penumbral Eclipse begins ~ 10:02 PM Nov 18th Pacific Time    (1AM ET Nov 19)

Partial Eclipse begins ~ 11:18 PM

Maximum Eclipse ~ 1:03 AM Nov 19

Partial Eclipse ends 2:47 AM

Penumbral Eclipse ends 4:03 AM

Thanks for the info, and the Eugene times. I'll be able to see it if I'm able to see it (clouds may be a problem).

The way I'm sleeping lately should have me up for most of the show. The skies are clear where I'm at now, and will probably stay that way all night.

40 % chance of rain here tonight(Thursday).  Most likely will be cloudy at least.

Oh, Thursday. That explains why I saw nothing tonight.

^^^^ laugh ha ha

I'll going to stay up late... but cloudy here right now... yesterday was such a beautiful day too.

I know, right? I was starting to think the whole eclipse thing was just a hoax, and the earth is flat, and maybe I should take Disco Stu's advice and start taking veterinary dewormer and maybe drinking some bleach. I'm really glad it was just an everyday stoner blunder.

I was just driving to Berkeley, listening to KQED and they interviewed an astronomer from Foothills College (Los Altos) about tonight's eclipse... this guy was a great interview, and did an excellent job of explaining the science behind the eclipse.

His website: https://www.fraknoi.com/

He was cracking me up, coining the term "cosmic garbage" (band name?)

... and also "Gravity -- like your uncle-- is a cheapskate."

He will likely post this morn's interview to the audio sub-cat on his site... and he said his blog features tables for tonight's action.

Now 70%.

Thanks Druba and All.

Clear full Moon rising up in the East now.
I will try to stay awake until Very Late East time and see what I See !!

Sky's clear here in Jerseyland.

here in NorCal (SW Humboldt County... Lost Coast area), the clouds disappeared and I just caught the peak of the eclipse!

Beaver moon > Blood Moon

here's a NASA video that was helpful to me in understanding what I was seeing (subtract 8 hours for Pacific Standard Time):

After cloud cover and a hailstorm earlier,  woke up to catch Moon just about to hide (and let Husky out for a pee).  Looks pretty awesome !!

I just went out and had a hard time finding the moon at first, but then there it was overhead: a Blood Moon with a thin sliver mostly illuminated. My insomnia paid off for a change.

Still raining in western Oregon...

Good job Mike.  Andy photos???

Went to bed early - around 10. Woke briefly at midnight to continued rain, but it did seem a bit darker than earlier.

That's it.

Andy, I tried taking a few, but my phone's camera, which takes great pix in daylight, doesn't do a good job with celestial objects at night.

Sky cleared here just long enough to catch the first 3rd of it. Then the rain came back and nothing. Glad I got a little, but you never get enough.....
