all canterbury-based music from the late 1960s to early 1970s. canterbury is a really old part of england – you may have heard of chauncer's "the canterbury tales"? that's the same canterbury – it's ancient.
stones innocent frankenstein — daevid allen's album banana moon
this album features an all-star lineup, unfortunately they only produced one album together. robert wyatt, from soft machine, is the drummer on this track – amazing musician. a brief aside: wyatt fell off of a balcony at a party and was paralyzed from the waste down when he was at the peak of his career. he continues to drum and sing somehow.

you can't kill me — gong's album camembert electrique
second track from the album, which means electric cheese? this band is crazy. gong was led by daevid allen in its early incarnations. they completely sucked after he left. if you like them, i would recommend angel's egg as a good introductory album. anyway, this song is funny as hell.

love song with a flute — caravan's self-titled album
i'd say caravan is a bit more poppy than other canterbury bands, but they still retained a very jazzy core ... like much of mid-60's pop. tf you like their sound, i'd also recommend in the land of grey and pink – solid album.

marchides – matching mole's album little red record
last but not least is marchides by matching mole. mole was robert wyatt's band after he left soft machine, and before he began making solo albums. brian eno plays synth on the album, and robert fripp produced it. i would recommend getting the soft machine's first three albums before moving on to wyatt's solo stuff.

i'll be devling into this genre (again) – what do you think of this tiny selection, whatcha got?

I like the Marching Mole you
I like the Marching Mole you posted. It very improvisational sounding. But I bet every single note is charted out by Fripp.
Pretty cool.

I regret not having seen
I regret not having seen Daevid Allen while he was alive. Even though I haven't delved deep into the wild world of Gong (and all of his other projects), I usually take a moment when I come across a clip. Like this one:
Le Petit Dimanche Illustré 21/04/68

I like In the Land of Grey and Pink. Great stuff.
