Grateful Dead HQ Share Pro-Shot 6/9/91 “Let It Grow” for ‘All The Years Live’ Video Series

https://jambands.com/news/2020/03/26/grateful-dead-hq-share-pro-shot-6-9...

For this week’s edition of the All They Years Live video series, Grateful Dead HQ is looking back at the band’s June 9, 1991 stop at Ohio’s Buckeye Lake.

Previously, All the Years Live showcased the “Reuben and Cherise” from the Summer ’91 stop, but this week they’re looking at a set one-ending “Let It Grow” that stretched well over 12 minutes.

“One of the strongest, most inspired tours of the Dead’s final decade and a half of performing was the Summer Tour of 1991,” explains GD archivist/legacy manager David Lemieux. “With the two new keyboardists now fully ensconced in the Grateful Dead’s sound and repertoire, it was an unstoppable machine that hit the road for shows that summer. Countless A+ concerts were on this tour, at Deer Creek, Giants Stadium, RFK, Pine Knob, Soldier Field, and this mighty fine performance at Buckeye Lake in Ohio. Like ‘Bird Song,’ ‘Let It Grow’ was one of the longer, more jamming songs the Dead played in their first sets after 1976. Unlike the freeform improvisation of ‘Bird Song,’ though, Let It Grow was very structured and required precision focus by all seven players, and this one most certainly has that.”

Reed Mathis To Perform Phish ‘Gamehendge’ Set For Livestream Tonight

Reed Mathis was one of the first musicians to start livestreaming from home when the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak led to orders of shelter in place. Mathis, who has been covering Trey Anastasio songs hours after the Phish guitarist premieres them, will focus on an older Anastasio project tonight, as he’s planning on performing The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday, aka Gamehendge, for his Quarantine Medicinal Jams series of livestreams via his Facebook page and the new JamBase Livestreams Calendar at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT.

Enjoying tonight's show from the phish to take my mind off our impending doom, we went from 15 cases to 240,000 dead in a short time. Now an earthquake in idaho.

Why no Phil streams? They must have all those Cap show webcasts archived. Issues with getting permission from all the various Friends? Jill not letting them out for free?

They just streamed like 5-6 shows on his birthday.

Oh good call. Well they should keep it going. Friday nights with Phil and Friends would be great

Tonight's free Nugs.tv show is pretty good TTB from last year--beats watching highlights of Jared Kushner and his father-in-law bullshit their way through another major crisis.

^ beats watching highlights of Jared Kushner and his father-in-law bullshitting their way through another major crisis.

Hey Gravy! I completely agree. My new isolation routine has been make a latte and watch Gov Cuomo for a realistic, Im your Daddy, morning update. Later in the day I open some popcorn and grab a glass of wine for the bullshit, we have everything under control 5 pm White House briefing. After yesterdays "Gonna get those drug dealers" switch and bait I gave up. Have it pulled up on C Span for watching tonight but found a rerun of the 1980's Footloose more factual.

We are so fucked

(Don't freak out, it's a recording from two years ago, back when we could be near each other, being "premiered" tonight. Otherwise, go ahead and freak out!)

Hey Lance,   love the Fred Frith!   Thank you!

Grateful Dead Announce ‘Shakedown Stream’ YouTube Concert Series

Grateful Dead have announced a new, weekly YouTube concert series, dubbed ‘Shakedown Stream.’ The series debuts this Friday, Apr. 10 at 8 p.m. ET.

The first show featured for ‘Shakedown Stream’ will be the Dead’s July 4, 1989 show at Rich Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y. This show was released on video previously as Truckin’ Up To Buffalo.

Prior to the screening, Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux and Dead historian Gary Lambert will host a live pre-show. Fans can submit questions for the duo to answer in advance by sharing them on the ‘Shakedown Stream’ submission page submission page. Lemieux and Lambert will answer some of the questions during the pre-show. “‘Shakedown Stream’ was conceived as a platform for Dead Heads of all ages to virtually congregate during the challenging days the world currently faces and connect in a familiar way, via a Grateful Dead show,” read a press release.

There will also be a charitable element to the series. “The ‘Shakedown Stream’ live broadcast will also feature a ‘Donate Now’ button for viewers to directly support the MusiCares® COVID-19 Relief Fund to help support the music community during these challenging times,” read a press release.

“We’ve decided to start the streaming video series with the Buffalo ’89 show for a couple of primary reasons: it’s excellence is indisputable and is something that we think pretty much everyone will enjoy in the absence of actually being able to see live concerts; and, as a tribute to the many rabid, loyal Dead Heads from the hard-hit tri-state area, which has been affected more than anywhere else in the country,” Lemieux said via press release. “To all of the Dead Heads in New York State and beyond, this one’s for you.”

According to the press release, “The ‘Shakedown Stream’ series will continue next Friday, April 17, with The Grateful Dead Movie, and subsequent weeks will feature not only previously released concerts but also never-before-seen shows from the Dead’s video archive. Each ‘Shakedown Stream’ will also kick off with a live, on-camera pre-show with members of the Dead community.”

Nice 13,810 watching!

The jazz stream I posted has been really good, and these are talented guys who need the support.

Check out the Greenlief set tomorrow, and donate a buck or three if you can.

I can pretty much guarantee he won't play Friend Of The Devil.

Not that I have a problem with Friend Of The Devil, I'm just sayin', check out something different and maybe help some deserving folks at the same time.
