Legal Marijuana: Despite Scary Noises from D.C., the Sky Is Not Falling

Vermont is still trying to move forward with some sort of legalization. Some think a Bill that allows growing and personal use is best, but a lot of others want full legalization and stores.

Our new governor has said that before he passes a bill, he wants to see what the Feds are going to do, and that he wants a way to measure if someone is driving baked.

DE is introducing a bill now, although I haven't caught up to the details. We already have Med and Decrim ($100 misdemeanor fine for less than an oz).

vermont is still a few years away from full blow legalization and stores selling the product, imo. 

h.170 hopefully passes tho-it's kind of absurd, but i guess better than nothing for the time being.

The article uses rationality and logic re: political incentives; however, there's no mandate the administration need follow either.  They are clearly intent on stirring the pot on ideological grounds wherever it suits their interests.   It might not even be ideological interests, but pure unadulterated special interests working behind the scenes ... or even simply as a "tool" to create a diversion for other crap they're looking to push hard on (or secretly let slide into place). 

Along these lines, it is precisely BECAUSE of the huge backlash that would follow in legalized states that it could be used as such a tool ... kind of the domestic equivalent of starting a war to take our collective eyes off the real ball.  Kent State all over again x100 is my fear.

Agreed.

I will have zero fear in so far as opting to take to the streets in protest.  While protesting peacefully with love in mind might be a great ideal for us to strive for, unfortunately human nature - along with a bit of prodding by "the masters of war" - will still have us pitted against one another.

I hear you, but believe deeply that humans are "awakening" at a much better pace than at anytime in our recent history and will overcome egoic thinking with Love. I also believe awakenings are why we are seeing so much perturbation in the world and that these perturbations are good thing and a breaking down of old and useless paradigms. Call me a spaceman, call me a conspiracy theorist, call me an idiot, call me a fucking nut job, just don't call me late for dinner! 

We shall see what this summer brings .Mendocino just lowered their limit to 25 plants period . Friend had applied for 5000 thousand square feet and was approved then told sorry we are back at 25 plants with zip tie program .The back story to this is the abundant federal aircraft flying out of an airport down there. It might just be storm damage or the dam ? But some locals next to the airport say its to many to count .We shall see what this summer brings in the Triangle . We are used to helicopters .The new green rushers will freak the hell out when they fly 50 feet above their head .

I'm hopeful too, but also am a "realist" ... and this is coming from someone who can "imagine a world without war" if everyone simply said "no, I'm not putting in a uniform and picking up a gun".  It really would be easy, if we all tried. 

Yet, not everyone is on board with such a perspective ... and all it takes is one or a few people who aren't to be the proverbial "bad apple".  Unfortunately, as time goes on, it will only become easier and easier for any single individual to literally "destroy everything" ... maybe not within our lifetimes, but think 100,500,1000 years from now.

starting today, please call your local representative urging them to support h.170. this house resolution will remove the state justice system from cannabis, adults will be able to possess and grow small amounts, it recently made it out of committee, and now the legislative bodies are picking-up a vote, starting with the house – your phone calls and emails, this week, to your local representative will make a difference.
