I went Saturday night too.  It was an awesome uplifting celebration of a special moment in time.  Great show, venue and incredible band

Basie in NJ is already Sold Out.

Saw it in NOLA last year at Jazzfest. It was excellent. Don't think they will top that so holding off on the local show.

It was so much fun ( Philly show) :) The Kimmel Center ( Verizon Hall) is gorgeous and the sound was wonderful !! We were 4th row orchestra, Bob, my son and myself, a great nite of music ...it is more of a show and entertainment than what we are used to. Def go see if you enjoy the music of The Last Waltz ...yes.

We're going saturday, can't wait. Was thinking about starting a roll call but the person i thought was going is now not going.

Have fun Fog :) My son actually digs Jamey Johnson and saw him in AC a while back, so that was cool since I had no clue who he was ! I am now a fan tho, his voice is awesome and was perfect fit for this gig, he is a multi nominated and 4 time award winning singer/songwriter/musician.

Was that you whistling?

They announced that Garth Hudson will be joining for two shows. That would be amazing.

Whistling ? me ? ....no, not a whistler at all...lol ! Those pics were taken from my seat tho :) The place was packed !!

This Last Waltz corpse has been humped raw.

You are right JR...but it was a nice night out with my son and hubby :) ...and the acoustics in that place were beautiful. I am looking forward to going back to see this in May...

speaking of corpse humping, thats the only reason any of us is here right now in the first place.

Great show at Westbury last night..Phenomenal night of music, I danced my ass off..

Lynn, is there video of Sideshow dancing?

Looking for that elusive shimmy samwich

two step>waddle>shimmy>pirouette>shimmy

I understand he hasn't broken it out since spring tour in 85

and there is a joke up there somewhere about someones mother being a dead fuck but, I won't go there

I wish they would your the Last Waltz out West.....I mean, it really is an SF thing.......

Garth Hudson joined them last night in  Albany, NY.

"You are right JR.."

I'd love to see this with Garth.

Doesn't Larry Campbell do a Last Waltz reunion like once a month.

Note: The Last Waltz 40 band consisted of Warren Haynes on guitar and vocals, Jamey Johnson on acoustic & electric guitar and vocals, Michael McDonald on keys, banjo and vocals, John Medeski on organ and keys, Don Was on bass, Terence Higgins on drums & Mark Mullins with the Levee Horns; Appearances were made by Ivan Neville on keys and vocals, Cyril Neville on percussion and vocals, Bob Margolin on guitar and vocals & Garth Hudson on organ and keys; Last show of the tour.

Warren and Jamey Johnson are a natural fix, i was impressed with Jamey Johnson. Michael Mcdonald i like but after awhile that dudes voice was starting to annoy me. Not really a complaint i thought he did well. Garth Hudson during I Shall Be Released was outstanding, what a treat. Love Terence Higgins(are you listening Phil), They sounded great. We sat up on the side in like this box tier(never actually sat), we threw down all night on all the songs that were danceable, which was most of them. Plenty of room with nobody in front or in back of us.

Outstanding band.

They had Joan listed as a special guest last minute, she never showed.

Phenomenal stuff.

Jamey Johnson was a revelation.

Bob Margolin, I can do without.

Don Was looks like a Muppet.

Agree about Margolin, was giving him a pass because he was there, still.

wow this is tomorrow night about an hr or so away...

does warren sing?

We're here at the Masonic- any phriends hanging around wanna meet up

for a brew?

Low interest from the bay area clan?  I know Gary is around here somewhere. We found our way to the Fairmont lounge where the Grand piano player is delivering a sweet rendition of The Weight.

The Last Waltz at Winterland in  '76 had 42 songs on the setlist!!

The Pretty quiet around here otherwise with out ambassador Roshambo creating some energetic atmosphere.  Hope you're havin fun in NYC, Kate.

IMG_2675.JPGHey now-Happy Easter!

shows were amazing

Umm...  nice seats Ro?

The TAB lists looked solid

I really liked The Last Waltz 40th Anniversary Band/Show...... When I sat in my seat I was looking at my phone and when I looked up my seat was next to Zooey. Small world. Very strange crowd though seemed like 1/2 the crowd were folks that were comped tickets by The Casino. Anyway hearing Garth Hudson do his organ jam that leads into Chest Fever was really good. Caravan sung by Warren was relly nice as well. All The Band tunes were done well and Taj Mahal did really well on vocals. My only complaint was the lack of Dave Malone . He only sang on a few songs and only played guitar on 1 song.

All that said I still wish it was Govt. Mule instead.

decided to pass on price and the warren-centric nature of show....

Wasn't as Warren-centric as I thought it would be. Jamey Jameson and Taj Mahal sang more than Warren.

I caught the Toronto show - all round good night of music. Not a show I would have hit the road for, but glad it came to town and I went.
