I played bass at a super fun and funky gig last night at the Chapel in San Francisco!
Here's one of the highlights:
My band - Fog Swamp, jamming with Oakland's own -
MJ's Brass Boppers, on The Meter's "Love Slip's Up On Ya!"
~ Enjoy!

It truly was awesome!
It truly was awesome!
And I think we did this Meter's Tune Justice!
The Brass Boppers opened with a full on 2nd line thing on Valencia Street - and actually managed to bring in to the venue a bunch of peeps who had no intention of attending.
Then they laid down a fat set with 5 horns and 2 standing drummers.
By the time we hit the stage the place (mind you - on a Tuesday night) was pretty respectably filled.
They played this tune and one other - Meters inspired original tune with us and it was by far the best, most artistically satisfying gig I've played with Fog Swamp in 4 years!

Thanks for the kind words!
Thanks for the kind words!
I don't get many compliments, but after the gig I was personally approached by The Brass Bopper's Manager:
“Big Chief” Ray Blazio who paid me a sincere compliment about my bass playing and asked for my biz card!
And yes the bass came through great on the vid !

Here's a blast from the past
Here's a blast from the past - before I played the funk:
A pal recently uploaded this great sounding recording he captured from 17 years ago at the now-defunct Cocodrie Club in North Beach (SF). The Chazz Cats opened for David Nelson Band and this was the first time we met and picked with Barry Sless. He sat in with us on pedal steel guitar for Swingin' and Truckin' and Choo Choo Ch'Boogie and wound up playing about 30 gigs with us including High Sierra Music Festival and Oregon Country Fair!
Thanks to Richard Selleseth for the recording and upload. ?
This sounds very good too!
~Enjoy!
