Years ago, we made a detour while on a fishing trip to check out The Allman Brothers Big House in Macon, GA. Highly recommend visiting if you have the opportunity. Tricky shooting through glass, as there were plenty of reflections. Truly amazed at all the memorabilia they had!

^ Dang, I could do the whole Billy Tour or hit Festivals every weekend and have a baggie of dust for some of those prices!

Mr. Buff shot is from WA State. He never winked, snorted, or got up. But the look in his eye let me know, "Close enough, buddy." Don King stole this critter's hairdo!

my daughter drew this picture of Stick Men with John Wettons angel flying above. It now hangs next to an original Picasso in Tony's studio

Tony posted this on his instagram and then about a year later he sent me an email with a picture of it hanging in his studio, to let me know he is reminded of it every time he is in there

Where-o-where does she get her influences from?

Small, furry critters beware, you could be "pelletized!"

Upon further review and enlargement, the rock turned into sheep, which turned back into rocks. So I only have 24 now.

I can live with 24, but do you have a higher-rez version available by email or link? I'm seeing what might be one or two more you didn't tag.

Thanks for the email, astro. I got 30 this time.

Also of note is that, on each side, there are at least five adults before a little one, serving as a first line of defense against predators. In this area, a predator is likely a coyote, possibly a cougar; I can't say I've heard of any wolves around there. Real shame the species hasn't been able to shake, or evolve around, the respiratory disease that has decimated their population. No cures, no vaccines either. Every few years, they do fly over and shoot sick animals, haul them off, and bury them to slow the spread. I have not seen this many since I took the shot way back.

It's a beautiful thing. Where was this taken?

Yakima River Canyon. Maybe 10 miles south of Ellensburg, WA, on Highway 821. Shot from the road across the river. 70-200mm 2.8F, probably on my Canon 7DII. (crop sensor)

looks like a worthy detour from that awful grade

It is mostly a pretty drive. There has been some development. I lived in the middle of it in the late 70s when there was nobody around and little traffic. I recommend eating at Canyon River Grill for dinner or lunch. Chef Kevin Davis (three-time Beard award nominee) does a great job. I actually lived where the lodge and fly are now, back when it was just a campground. where nobody stayed. Kevin once owned 3-5 very popular restaurants in Seattle. https://www.canyonriver.net/dine/. Fuzzy lo-res shot.

As far as seeing sheep goes, their numbers are down. The best time is during the rut when the big bulls are chasing the females, and things get wonky, and they could be anywhere. That would be late September, but it's possible to run across any time, even roadside. They head to the river for a drink when the hills dry up.

Maybe just as pretty is the drive from Ellensburg up to Cle Elum when you are heading west on Highway 10. Very different than the lower canyon.

Capt.

That is a fantastic composition of the four Bovidea.  None the Doors album covers even come close!

Yes those four sheep have a Rock Star attitude going on

I told them there would be ice cream afterward if they played along well.
