June 23, 1990 - Autzen in Eugene, Oregonia

Forums:

A fun early show with the dead.  I was reminded whilst listening to the GD on Sirius radio.  Little Feat started at 1pm, played for an hour, Dead shortly after.  I didn't know they almost used it for a Dicks Picks, but a worthy show indeedy!

Epic day in Eugene!

wow, that must've been a scene
missed that one... was already settling into seattle-- or about to-- after living in spain for ~2ish years... and yes, missed the euro tour too.... internet wasn't working very well that year, LOL.

I remember it being a really fun show, Phil was playing punchy and really tight!   Glad this recording reflects that, epic Phil playing!!!

The following show was Brents last west coast show, though of course we didn't know that at the time.  Glad we got a nice version of Just a Little Light!  I remember Jerry being alone on stage tweaking his sound when we first entered the stadium.  He played for a few minutes, then ran off when everyone started yelling at him, lol.  Then Bill Graham opened by relaying what the sheriff told him, he'd rather work 8 dead shows than one ducks game!

The 23rd is night I met Judit.

The 24th I was a mushroom propelled pinwheel.

Solid weekend.

These shows were fun. Lots of happy people. Astro, I remember we met, but I don't remember how it came together.

Great shows.

That whole west coast run was a blast

Absolutely! This was a fantastic period for the band and Deadheads alike. This show very well reflects that. A good friend of mine had just moved to Eugene from Chicagoland (following a long detour at Indiana University) and it was ON! I found my way to KS for the July 4th show a week+ later but the buzz of this unreal experience, time, and love lasted and blasted me all the way through the end of the tour at the shit-foresaken Darth Vader hell pit that was the brand new World Ampitheater in Tinley Park, IL....so incredibly sad, Brent's last shows. RIP Brent. What a complete fucking loss. I still feel that pain.

Saw the 3 Shoreline shows and then the 2 at Autzen. What a run! Some of the best of the last great years of the Grateful Dead.

With the scorching Spring tour, Fall Garden run and Europe adventure, West Coast '90 gets somewhat lost in the shuffle.

I'm surprised there haven't been official releases for some of these though as they certainly warrant attention.

i saw a bald man on all 4's wearing nothing but his tighty-whiteys crab crawling in a mud pit during the other one....

great shows.

we had seen jerry at the warfield prior and got towed. truck full of tour "supplies" and all our shit...that was a stressful night.

I saw a guy with "dose me" scrawled across his chest in marker......no wonder he was acting a bit "strange." Quite possibly the same guy^^

...if you may have ever had any doubts about this era, listen to Wheel>Dew in your spare time!!!!

Both of those Eugene shows were top shelf. That was a great run from Cal Expo then JGB at the Warfield  followed by Shoreline and Eugene. Crazy good.
