Joe Russo’s Almost Dead Announce 10-Year Anniversary Celebrations at The Capitol Theatre and Brooklyn Bowl

Today, beloved and premier Grateful Dead cover band Joe Russo’s Almost Dead announced they’ll celebrate their 10-year anniversary with a one-off performance in the Brooklyn Bowl in New York on Jan. 26, followed by a three-night weekend celebration at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. on Jan. 27, 28 and 29.

Back on Jan. 26, 2013, drummer Joe Russo, Ween’s bassist Dave Dreiwitz, keyboardist Marco Benevento, guitarist and vocalist Scott Metzger, and guitarist and vocalist Tom Hamilton of Brothers Past, Ghost Light and American Babies united for the first time as Joe Russo’s Almost Dead at the Brooklyn Bowl. The impromptu performance came together as part of the Freaks Ball XIII; Russo was set to play in the Dean Ween Group on the second evening, but before the performance, the Dean Ween Group pulled out. Russo pulled together his, Dreiwitz, Metzger and Benevento’s Led Zeppelin cover band Bustle In Your Hedgerow and added Hamilton to the mix, creating Joe Russo’s Almost Dead. They would play one more time that year at The Capitol Theatre on Dec. 27, 2013.

In the 10 years since their fated and now historic union at the Brooklyn Bowl, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead have headlined festivals, sold-out Red Rocks Amphitheatre, played hundreds of shows, and had sit-ins with Phil Lesh, Jon Shaw, Jeff Chimenti, Oteil Burbridge, John Mayer, Evan Roque, Ben Perowsky and more. They have a lot to celebrate over the past 10 years together, and these shows are sure to honor their personal and shared elation from that one-off performance long ago.

Presale for the shows will go on sale Wednesday, Oct. 5, at noon for the Brooklyn Bowl show and 1 p.m. for The Capitol Theatre shows.
