A friend had an extra ticket for the show in SF on that tour and I passed.
We think we're so smart when we're young.

Sad to say I never saw Joni
Sad to say I never saw Joni or Jaco or Pat. Saw Weather Report in early 80's at the Universal Amphitheatre but Jaco was gone by then.

I've seen Metheny many times
I've seen Metheny many times over many years, Jaco one time with Weather Report in February 1980 (my first show at the Warfield) and I'm SO HAPPY to have seen Joni once, on the triple-bill tour she did with Van Morrison & Bob Dylan in the late '90s.
Brian Blade was her drummer, her small group was sublime and I thought her set blew away Van's & Dylan's.
I discovered the depths of Joni Mitchell's greatness far too late.
But I am happy I did discover it.

Lance - being your senior
Lance - being your senior (slightly) I did get to go to that SF show and have followed Joni all along. I also had the odd chance to see Jaco with Bobby at New George's, after Bay Bridge fireworks, hoping for instrumental fireworks but settled for Twilight Time and Fever. Oh well.

I saw three shows on Joni’s
I saw three shows on Joni’s Shadows and Light tour and each one was just exactly perfect.
Despite what some naysayers believe - I truly believe her band on that tour was the best backing band anyone had ever at any time.

I'd be hard pressed to disagree.
Many moons ago, when I first bought a CD player, Shadows & Lights was one of the first four CD's that came with the new toy.
I was fortunate to see both Weather Report (with Jaco) & Pat Metheny (a few times), at the Beacon Theater.
Us old folks got to see some swell music. As for the other 3 initial CD's: Live Dead, The Bands Rock of Ages & Eat a Peach.
Live music at it's best. It's super fun to see the video of Shadows & Lights.
