68-71.... my first intro into the dead was Jerry's first solo album....go figure

My parents liked Johnny Cash.... go figure, my dad was "Archie Bunker" in real life...funny in hindsight 

same here, Cap'n. my father was a bigfan of both johnny and archie

i'll always love the man in black, if only for those great childhood memories with my father.

Live from Folsom Prison is in regular rotation on my stereo.  The Johnny Cash TV show collection is a great DVD if you don't already have it.   The guests are A list.

Beg month on PBS, The Highwaymen on last night.  Cash did "Ring of Fire" and it took me back to my first hearing.  [Edit: before]* the Beatles, mid-1963, sitting on a pile of fertilizer bags in Johnny Garrison's grocery in Fitzgerald, GA.  

Spellbinding.

 

*Had to rethink the recollection, time-wise. 

For some reason that song is still to this day.....my mantra
