John Wayne

Forums:

“I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don’t believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people."

Do you recall where you were when you heard the Duke had died?

``John Wayne spoke bad Spanish but he stopped to talk to everyone anyway,″ said Francisca Egure Flores, 65, a veteran movie extra and shopkeeper in this farming village where more Hollywood Westerns were filmed than any place in Mexico. ``He was a beautiful person. He did more for this town than anyone.″

And a member of the John Birch Society.

No, I don't remember where I was when he died. I won't say I was happy about it, but I sure didn't mind.

From 'She Wore a Yellow Ribbon' (1949):

"Never apologize, Mister. It's a sign of weakness."

To cross reference the Public Enemy thread from last week...

John Wayne named dropped properly in Fight the Power...

His yacht in Balboa Bay was across the water from a high school friends grandparents place (His dad was the judge that set the bail in the DeLorean Case).  We'd often watch John and various Hollywood friends drinking and smoking thru the binoculars, lol...

He was one of the only actors of his generation not to serve in WWII...

I have no idea when he died, but I do enjoy his movies, and his name has been a wonderful label for men that are going to fantasy solve every hostage, bank robbery, etc, situation that arises, the John Wayne Syndrome

Without further ado, thanks to the internet, John Waynes Yacht, the Wild Goose

Thanks to one of my employees, who does a hilarious impersonation of this scene from Repo Man, this is the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions John Wayne.

'he was too, youse boys'

I just remember watching John Wayne movies as a youngster with grandma.  She was a sucker for the old westerns.

Miller:
John Wayne was a fag.

Miller:
He was, too, you boys. I installed two-way mirrors in his pad in Brentwood, and he come to the door in a dress.

i love the airport.  other than that, never was a fan.

John Ford's movie, The Searchers,  was one of the best Westerns ever.

"That doesn't mean he was a homo Miller."

Mike, your quote up there was one of my dearly departed co-workers favorite sayings.

Yes, he was a redneck, but one of the good ones.

(My friend Glenn, that is. Don't know about John Wayne).
