I caught John Hiatt for the first time opening up for Rachel Sweet at The Bottom Line in 1979 when John was a total mess personally. Great songs often come from great personal disaster and I was hooked that night. I see him every chance I can still.
Love him. This just reminded me that I need to pick up tickets for his show with Sonny Landreth here on 3/21. He's performing "Slow Turning" for the 30th Anniversary.
Love Hiatt...seen him twice...wish id seen him more, for sure...another guy that seemingly always on tour, and then i wonder why i havent taken advantage of that!!! Hpfly catch him soon
He s all over west coast before that 3-21 show....im looking for a summer or fall show on east etc
One of my favorite concerts! Saw him only one time; at The Planting Fields arboretum in Oyster Bay LI. The North Mississippi All Stars opened and were also John’s band! Open air under the stars!
Hi the Flipper- I had the best tripping experpiences of my life, back as a youth at The Planting Feilds arboretum. I hope John Hiat was able to take in the beauty of that place. Its magical.
So for us Long Islanders, tickets to see John Hiatt & the Goners went on sale this morning for Sunday, August, 26 at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center.

I've been lucky enough to see him three times, each in a different setting.
With The Goners (David Tronzo on guitar).
The trio (forget what they called it) with Byron MFing House.
The 4 chairs/4 guitars thing w/Lovette, Joe Ely and Guy Clark, which was outstanding.
Great writer and a pretty bad-ass singer.

Only saw him the one time, swapping stories and songs on stage with Lyle Lovett, but he's been a household favorite around these places.
