Thought some of you might be interested in this info from my friend Steve Keyer, a mover-and-shaker in the Bay area music scene for many years:

On this Friday’s episode of the Live Archive Show, we'll be honoring the memory of the late guitarist John Cipollina, who passed away on May 29th, 1989. I have a long history of preserving John's music at the direction of his late sister, Antonia, and I'd like to share with you rare, live music from some of the many bands he performed with. I hope you can tune in (or stream afterward on MixCloud) and take this journey with me as I pay tribute to one of our greatest Bay Area musicians.

I know I'm sounding like a
I know I'm sounding like a boring old geezer, but I can't tell you how mindblowing it was to be a young Eastcoast Deadhead moving to SF in the mid 80s and finding out you could see all the guys in your album collection at the local bars practically every weekend. And stand 2 feet away from them if ya wanted to.
Serendipitously for me, the (older than me) guy who managed many of these bands (Dinosaurs, Zero, Chipollina, Starship, Big Brother, etc. etc) grew up in my neighborhood around Baltimore. (Out of all the favors he did for me, the one that stuck with me most was getting introduced to Papa John Creech at some post-Starship show.) He has enumerable stories and I look forward to hearing his radio show.

I remember seeing Cipollina
I remember seeing Cipollina play with the Dead during the 1982 New Years run and in my memory he played in some of the early shows on 12/26 - 12/28 but as with many things my memory is off and he only played on 12/31 according to this site.
