Joe Biden's "World Apology Tour"

Managed to snag at the last minute some great seats to the long sold out Joe Biden event last night at the Schnitz.  

It was a sit down interview by a local businesswoman (the owner of the hipster "Salt and Straw" ice cream stores) ostensibly about his new book.   Fighting Joe hit on themes of family, working class values, American exceptionalism, and public service.  He also had a lot of whimsical antidotes about working with Obama and confirmed all the memes were real.   However, it really didn't come across as a campaign rally and the guy was surprisingly subdued, sounding very much like a man haunted by a string of personal tragedies and knowing that he handed the keys to the White House to a lunatic by deciding not to run for president in the wake of his son's passing.  In fact, he ended the event with a quote from Plato that "the penalty for not participating in politics is being ruled by people worse than you."
