JGB 3/17/78 Late Show

I would've absolutely loved to have been at shows like this!

Mission In The Rain
Russian Lullabye (part1)
Russian Lullabye (part2)
Tore Up Over You
Tuning
Love In The Afternoon
Tuning
I'll Be With Thee
The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down
Rhapsody In Red

I was at the early show on that date. Great great vibe, Donna and Maria Muldaur singing and dancing together on stage. Awesome times. Passaic's a pit though, even back then.

Those shows with Maria were the bomb.  Saw a bunch of shows with this lineup at the Keystone.  In many ways my favorite Jerry band configuration.

That's an excellent Mission in the rain, the next two nights, & really all of early 78 is full of great JGB. Those early Cats Under the Stars are in a league of their own. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niO9ElPwNfo

thanks. end of mission just made goose bumps and my hair stand up.

Lucky enough to have been there.

Damn, that Pittsburgh show link above is crystal clear and thump-thump-thumping! I Love IT!          "Don't be hanging around old Catfish John..."

I was at these shows.

Was fortunate to catch JGB at the Cap in Passiac 1977, before I ever saw the Grateful Dead.

Miss that guy!

Only Cap Passaic show was "Go Ahead" w/ Hot Tuna opening.  There were cockroaches dancing upon the armrests of the theater seats,  a nice bonus. They towed my truck from Kentucky Fried Chicken lot (duhhh) but fortunately, the guys whose car caught on fire kicked in enough $$ to get it out of impound.  I gave them  a lift home to New Brunswick.

Passaic itself was a fine  example of urban blight.  I understood why my parents had no objection if I went to Manhattan as a kid, but strongly discouraged me from visiting Passaic.  I could see that it might be a dangerous place without the safety of a friendly concert crowd.

Here some links at LL to the early/late 3/17/78 show with sources in FM/SBD/MTX/Video.

There is no RESEED button now at LL and you have to ask for it either in the Reseed request thread or in the shout box.

The first time I saw Jerry was with that band about a month earlier in Santa Cruz, with Robert Hunter's band opening.

My main memory is of walking out thinking that this Garcia guy was a deeper and more sophisticated player than I had thought.

We learn as we go.

Saw the Spectrum show the night before--the only "In The Round" Spectrum expereince I can rember where bascially the cut the place in half, so it only held like half normal cpacity.  Great show
