Very lucky and talented kid.
She was over the moon when the cast performed on Broadway with Andrew Lloyd Weber in attendance- she was under study that night for Magdalena and performed in that role. No such luck though for tonight’s live performance..but she’s visible in the chorus.
Correction, she’s a cousin not niece.

Loving it. Was too young to see the original show, but believe it or not, it was one of the first albums i was allowed to buy. Elementary school years, we had a substitute teacher that had toured with a group that performed it. I had such a crush on her.
This is very good.

I watched tonight. Saw it on Broadway a couple different times, with different casts and, sometimes, different stagings. This version stand on the top of the heap. The voices of each of the leads were superb. Great couple of hours.
Nancy ~ Noticed your cousin before I knew it was your cousin. She had that stage sparkle. She deserves more work and acclaim.

What a great production.
What a great production. Loved the production design as much as the performances. Sara Bareilles and John Legend completely held their own with the Broadway pros. Loved the suit Alice Cooper pulled from his closet. What, you thought that was a costume? Judas was AMAZING!!! and needs to win an Emmy.

So, what you are saying is that you made it thru the opening credits, the Overture and Heaven On Their Minds and turned it off. Despite you liking all the stars, you only saw one sing and didn't bother watching any of the other stars you like?

Oh, thanks for noticing my cousin’s talent. This was a big break for her and like I said she’s already got a major role in a new Broadway production, can’t spill the beans just yet. I watched Jesus Christ Superstar this morning (zipped thru commercials) and while I prefer the hippie styling of the original, this production was fantastic.

Great production. I thought the guy who played Pilate had the best acting chops of the bunch. Judas was pretty good too.

Actually no - and its a tad more complicated than that - we put it on maybe 30 mins in - just didnt dig it - and i might add, Andrew Lloyd Weber may be prolific but the majority of his shows suck...i have worked / seen dozens of shows over the years and his, by far were just dreck -:
Joe's Coat - please ( did it twice, each at least a 2 week run )
Cats - awful ( worked it so many times i couldnt count how many times i saw it )
Les Mis - 3 1/2 hours about a loaf of bread ( thats 6 weeks of my life that i'll never get back )
Phantom - meh ( rehashed crap - played in our theater for 4 months, every time i hear the overture i want to scream )
I'll give them some credit for breaking ground w/ JCSS in the 70's but overall not a fan in the least of ALW and Tim Rice.

From NY Times
From NY Times
A conceptual and artistic triumph, NBC’s live telecast of “Jesus Christ Superstar” on Easter Sunday may have finally justified the recent live musical fad on network TV. Some technical flubs and one mixed-bag lead performance aside, the production was genuinely thrilling, taking chances with the staging of a classic but controversial Broadway show, much more daring than previous live musical broadcasts like “The Sound of Music” or “Peter Pan.”
With the R&B hitmaker John Legend playing Jesus Christ, Sara Bareilles as Mary Magdalene and Brandon Victor Dixon as Judas Iscariot, NBC’s “Superstar” didn’t lack for talent or star power, drawn as it was from the worlds of pop and theater. The real masterstroke, though, was the decision to perform live before a large audience at the Marcy Avenue Armory in Brooklyn. The energy of the crowd clearly goosed the cast, counteracting the over-prepared stodginess that hampers so many of these specials. And the crowd’s passionate whooping underscored one of the musical’s central themes: the dangers of uncritical celebrity worship.
(The show averaged 9.4 million viewers, according to The Hollywood Reporter, putting it ahead of all other original telecasts for the night — including CBS’s “60 Minutes” and ABC’s “American Idol.”)
Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, “Jesus Christ Superstar” has long held something of a surprise place in the modern theatrical canon. Debuting in 1970 as a rock opera album, it made the leap to Broadway in 1971 and was nominated for five Tonys — winning none. The 1973 movie adaptation by the director Norman Jewison was a box-office hit, but it is rarely touted as one of its era’s great films...
