Jerry Garcia's Catholicism

Forums:

My favorite line of that interview is "I am Catholic", I often think the revolution of consciousness might not have happened...or would certainly be unrecognizable if it weren't for Garcia's Catholicism.

Exponentially when one thinks about it, would humanity have lived to tell the tale without Garcia being raised Catholic?  We may never know.

did you ever see jerry at the warfield?

I don't like gospel Garcia.

Turtle, I know that you know that I know that you know that I saw Jerry at the Warfield more than most.

"I often think the revolution of consciousness might not have happened.."

What makes you think it did?

Brayin',  not sure about your revolution of consciousness drivel,  but thousands of children would not have to lived through the hell of being raped, if not for the Catholic church.

Lumber, why don't you crawl back under whatever rock you came from, you're just an ugly person, how about being less obnoxious?

Apparently Brayin' is OK with pedophilia.

You guys are sick people.  Surf...do you even surf?  I doubt it.

Why?

I just doubt that you're catching any waves.

For several  centuries, Priests rape little kids, the Catholic church covers it up, but I'm an ugly person?

Fuck the Catholic church and all of their defenders.

Ugh...have another nice day Lumber

fuck human beings

I'm with Surf and Lumber Truck on this one.

The point is, you wouldn't even recognize American society right now if it weren't for Garcia's faith.

We ran out of good lsd

Been watching the NY Dylan tribute with petty, young, harrison, clapton, helm, etc..

Sinead Oconnor breaks into War after the crowd boos her in response to her SNL Pope ripping performance.....And look at where we are today.  Poor kids.    Have you read some of their experiences?   They are soul crushing.

>>>> The point is, you wouldn't even recognize American society right now if it weren't for Garcia's faith.

your brain is damaged.

It's a true statement.

The Beatles and the Stones had a greater impact on American culture.  The GD are a rather insignificant footnote of American culture.

The Beatles and to a much smaller extent the Rolling Stones had an impact on radio stations and album sales...but certainly didn't shape American culture a tenth as much as the Grateful Dead.  Sgt. Pepper's was undoubtedly the most significant work of any British band, and certainly was a seismic event, but nobody traveled around the country and became part of societal subset to listen to it.  There are people from every small town or college campus that went on the road, year after year...and that's really just one aspect...there's also the impact of the psychedelic revolution of consciousness, without which there might not even be internet message boards or computers in our pockets to access them.

I think Sir Paul would agree with that statement.

Holy fucking Lol

Jerry frequently invoked Jesus' name.

Jesus Christ, Bob!

Led Zeppelin, Madonna, and Michael Jackson all had a greater impact on American culture than the GD.

The GD did pave the way for the Juggalos
