About Rock My Soul: A Jerry Garcia Birthday Celebration

KEEN presents Rock My Soul: A Jerry Garcia Birthday Celebration on Saturday, August 1 from 1PM – 1AM ET to benefit the Rex Foundation

Thank you, Jerry Garcia, for all the music, joy, and community that you brought into our lives. We’re still grateful, each and every day. Words can’t describe what the music means to us, so we’re presenting our love for Garcia and the music of the Grateful Dead through songs.

Jerry Garcia made live music as a shared experience, one created with his audience, not for it. This idea of oneness has never been more relevant. Joining us to present this grateful experience is KEEN, who shares Jerry’s belief in the power of togetherness. We are all kindred spirits in the pursuit of community, freedom, equality, and fun. On Jerry’s birthday, please check out the KEEN x Garcia limited edition collection celebrating Jerry’s enduring musical and artistic legacy, with 1% of proceeds donated to HeadCount.

To celebrate what would have been Jerry Garcia’s 78th birthday, FANS will honor the Garcia/Grateful Dead songbook and beyond, presenting spirited renditions of the music in an all-day, 12-hour event. Songs played at The Capitol Theatre, Brooklyn Bowl Williamsburg, Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas, and LOCKN’ will be intertwined with soul-nourishing live performances, stories, and surprise guests.

Jerry enriched our lives beyond our wildest dreams, and it’s up to us to carry his music into the world. Thanks, Jerry, for reminding us that there is beauty and light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right. Bring your ears, and your hearts, and let us take care of the rest. Expect the full lineup and schedule to be announced soon.

Donations will be gratefully accepted for The Rex Foundation. The Rex Foundation was created by members of the Grateful Dead and Friends in 1983 as a charitable non-profit organization to proactively provide extensive community support to creative endeavors in the arts, sciences, and education. We’re honored to support their mission to help to secure a healthy environment, promote individuality in the arts, provide support to critical and necessary social services, assist others less fortunate than ourselves, protect the rights of indigenous people and ensure their cultural survival, build a stronger community, and educate children.

Rock My Soul: A Jerry Garcia Birthday Celebration is serving as a kick-off party for Daze Between, a nine-day virtual celebration of Jerry Garcia’s life and legacy. Exclusive musical and storytelling content will be released each day from August 1 – 9, with funds going to benefit Rex Foundation, a non-profit formed by Grateful Dead and friends in 1984. You can find the full schedule and more information at www.dazebetween.com.

Cool, thanks for posting! l was just planning to DJ my own Jerry favorites, but now...

Slick isn't a real Dead Head.

;)

Will there be a ritual burning of a pair of those new furry Grateful Dead/Nike monstrosities?

Grateful Dead and Nike together still rub me the wrong way.

When Jerry was alive, Phil Knight's favorite band was "The Sweatshop Boys".  Then he could hit Tiger and LeBron with more money than anyone could really need in a lifetime. Pretty sure they both kept it.

(Yes, I've worn Nike's).

MLB wears Nike's. NBA wears Nike's. NFL wears Nike's. MLS wears Nike's. Tennis pros wear Nike's.

Just get over it.

Sure thing, Knothead.

Thanks for that interesting and rare piece of info.

Has Bill Walton weighed in on those new furry Grateful Dead/Nike monstrosities yet?

Not that I know of, Mike, but it would actually be interesting if he would.

this is a harmonic convergence of the highest order between Nike and the Grateful Dead. I love companies that epitomize everything that I believe in. Excellent product, incredible human culture, and then authenticity and quality with these phenomenal shoes here. I’ve been a Dead-head since I was 15 years old – that’s 53 years now.

Nice work, Knot. What color are you goin' for?

"Incredible human culture"? I'm out...

I don't wear basketball shoes.

Them shoes be Fugly!

Most basketball shoes are.

1990's Nike: Just Do It

2020's Nike: Just Get Over It

I Miss Jerry...

As long as it not Koons Presents I Support this...

> this is a harmonic convergence of the highest order between Nike and the Grateful Dead

Of course, Walton must know the OG harmonic convergence didn't deliver what was prophesied.

LOL, LCL. I thought about making a remark, but decided to ignore the clown. Go the peaceful route.

Bump for Jerry!
