JeffG's Midterm Voter Registration Drive

Forums:

Hey guys. Zone legend JeffG has composed a special message to help get out the vote for the upcoming midterms. Enjoy, and don't forget to vote Nov. 7th!

People Get Ready

I like how it always looks like he’s broken into an empty house to record these.

Jeez.  One hopes they're empty.

Thanks, TH.  A whole other level of creepy to this guy now.smiley

Lol

Breaking into abandoned houses is part of his creative process, Timmy. Note the acoustic splendour of that empty room. Brilliant.

Seriously though.  Never any photos or decorations.

We should probably all chip in and get JeffG a gift card to Ikea for Xmas.

He's given so much to this community.

The B&E Troubadour

He'll steal your heart.

And feed your pet.

November 7th?

That's the big day, Judit.

Let's get out there and take our country back!

It's actually Nov. 6, but hey, whatever. Close enough for government work, I guess.

Apparently, there's lucrative business opportunities for those able to rent out empty apartments to aspiring musicians to use as recording studios.

"...Koshino Corp. has so far built 17 such apartment complexes in Tokyo. They say they are popular not only among professional musicians and students at music universities, but among amateur performers as well.

Yoshii says, "Many people (who don't live in these apartments) rent studios in order to practice their instruments. The ability to practice easily at home is probably a big draw." He says the apartments usually rent at rates about 10 percent higher than regular counterparts in the area.

Yoichi Ikemoto, chief editor of SUUMO, a real-estate site run by Recruit Sumai Company, comments, "Market prices of rentals have been falling since the global financial crisis and the Great East Japan Earthquake, but lenders want to maintain their rental prices while filling empty rooms, and this has given rise to them finding ways to add value to their rooms."

The election is in fact on NOV. 7TH, Surfdead.

It's amazing how many people don't even know what date to vote; but that's a big part of what JeffG is raising awareness about here with his songs.

Here's the official 2017 election information from the NYT. If anybody needs a ride to the polls in Colorado, I'm available. Our lives depend on this election.

In fact, unbeknown to most, many of our beloved mini-movies were actually produced in an empty rent-by-the-hour motel room off  I-95 -- hence the HD sound.

Hipster JeffG owns furniture.

Nice.

Nobody covers Bette Midler like Jeff G.  Nobody!

Enjoy the artistry, folks, but remember; our democracy is literally collapsing. Under the Trump regime, the Constitution has been revoked, we live under constant threat of imprisonment for merely expressing dissent, and Republicans have begun drilling for oil in our vaginas.

The stakes simply could not be higher; so please, mark Nov. 7th on your calendar, and vote.

It is a different kind of crazy when you live your life without furniture, hell is he even sitting in a chair?

A lot of zoners struggle to understand JeffG's eccentric genius, Fabes.

Van Gough never sold a painting, and Beethoven was deaf. Maybe we aren't meant to understand.

I think it's an excellent idea for Mark to vote on Wed. Nov. 7.

Poor admin.

Empty Apartment Music is a genre! --- we are so out of touch.

Playing Songs In The Empty Apartment Next Door (11 videos)

This series of eleven acoustic solo performances was recorded surreptitiously in an empty apartment in Andee's building in Brooklyn. Includes four unreleased songs and a Cure cover!

Over the course of Black Sugar Transmission's decade-long existence, the postpunk electro-pop outfit has always strained at the limitations of genre tags. Equal parts jagged new wave, power pop harmony, metallic muscle, glammy swagger and techno-gasmic sound design, BST lives on its own singular piece of musical real estate.

"Fist-pumping, melodic and highly destructive dance-rock" -- David Adler, Philadelphia Inquirer

"Glittery pop with a dark heart...even by the third of fourth listen you’ll be trying to work out why it works: imagine a cocktail made with ingredients that really shouldn’t complement each other, but in the end tastes like the best party you’ve ever been to." - Echoes & Dust

 >>>I think it's an excellent idea for Mark everyone to vote on Wed. Nov. 7.

Fixed that for ya.

Good troll job in this thread Mark.

Jeff G's is certainly at the forefront of the Empty Apartment Movement  Being a purist, he shuns even having a chair in the room during a session.

Amazingly, his musical influence has been felt as far away as Kazakhstan.

Oh shit I forgot to post a link to Black Sugar Transmission, in case anyone is interested in the Empty Apartment Videos and the Empty Apartment sound. (Not my cup of tea, but I definitely notice the Jeff G influence in the vocal presentation.)

Judging by the salute, I think one of these guys may b a Zoner

"The psychedelic dance song cycle boasts hints of classics: Prince, NIN, Bowie, Todd Rundgren yet is unapologetically modern. Dance Music 4 Haters strikes a meticulous yet hypnotic balance of harmonic and rhythmic exploration and pure fist pumping entertainment value.

I appreciate that LCL, but I assure you JeffG is as serious about getting the vote out this November as he is about laying down sweet acoustic covers of your favorite jams. It's fun to joke around, but this election is no laughing matter.

Remember, the 2016 election was decided by less than 100k votes; if we simply dismantle the Electoral College, impeach a few Supreme Court Justices, and harass the people who aren't in 100% ideological adherence with us by calling them names, we can restore our democracy.

Here's JeffG performing Gomorrah at a Starbucks. Testify!

Didn't he ever try to audition for one of Phil's things?

He did, Jaz. Sadly, he was beat out by a TXR line cook who had the night off and was available for a gig.

Thanks . I recall discussions.

Don't get me wrong, I love JeffG, but in all fairness the line cook was better.

What about the dishwasher? He had chops.

I fear that just beyond the wall in that off-putting green room, there is a poor woman drugged, gagged and hog tied, wondering what the fuck is going on.

Luckily for her, she gets to hear the oppression-smashing sounds of JeffG.

I get the feeling Jeff G is the only white member of an all black church.

Guys quick correction here- it looks like the election has been moved to Nov. 6th, which is probably another gerrymandering trick but whatever.

Thank you to Surfdead for the correction!

He’s got to hold you in his arms of steel

It's a tarp!

How can you be a white member of an all black church?

Here he is at a black bar dedicating The Lady Is A Tramp to his infant son.

Despite residing in an unoccupied tract home, the cat seems to have water and food.

JeffG inspires me to vote for candidates younger than fifty.

Untethered ambition.

a rare photo of JeffG on set break:

Alan, I think you killed my untethered ambition theory.

Hmmm, JeffG apparently has a kitty --- it kind of humanizes him -- he's not your typical unapproachable, arrogant rock star, after all.
(Either that or he's trapping neighborhood critters for the occasional high protein meal.)

jeff2.jpg

And no one told me this was a multi-song medley performance....it's practically a whole show -- no wonder he had to rest up between sets

he did sinatra pretty well...
