Jeff Healey

Forums:

Just discovered him.  I admit I must be living under an f'n rock. He was around playing for like 25 years and I was clueless.  Lost his sight when he was around one, so he was forced to learn and play the guitar in a way that is strictly of his own invention.  Unfortunately died at 41 from cancer in 2008.  My mind is just kind of blown right now.  I really need to get out more, Seriously! Check out the you video 'As The Years Go Passing By' from the Stuttgart Jaz Festival in 1995 if you haven't seen it. Just incredible stuff.   https://youtube.com/watch?v=gIkOaTVu8uM

LOL, you're definitely late on that one - but better late than never!

I'm also listening to Gary Moore on youtube right now.  The man is covering 'The Sky is Crying.' Wow! Hadn't been familiar with him either.  I'm thinking it is my day to discover some incredible musicians you are no longer with us.  Just wish I had been with it 30 years ago and seen these guys.

Thanks for the link. I've been living under that rock, too.

If you have never seen Jeff Healey, this means you're also missing out on Roadhouse.

The Sam Elliott movie

I have seen the movie! Sadly, I don't remember what I've seen most of the time. I do remember there was a lot going on.

I just read about it and remember more than I thought I did. That was a movie and Jeff Healey's music and stage presence was a big part of it. ! Thanks for the reminder, Bss.

I saw Healey open for Bonnie Raitt in the early 90s. Dude was definitely a master of tone and expressiveness.

Roadhouse is quite possibly the best worst movie of all time.

It rates right up there, Lance.

Or down there, depending on how you rank things LOL

Saw him not long before he died. Truly amazing and original guitarist. Really blew me away.
