Jean–Luc Ponty Electric Fusion “The Atlantic Years” Tour

Forums:

looking forward to this... hope to see a few of you mutants at the Rio.

Jean-Luc Ponty is headed to stages across the U.S. in late spring and early summer. The legendary French violinist begins “The Atlantic Years” tour with a May 30 show in Portland, Ore.

The tour’s name is a nod to the band accompanying Ponty on the road, who recorded several albums with the artist for Atlantic Records in the late ’70s and ’80s. Ponty will be backed by Wally Minko on keyboards, Jamie Glaser on guitar, Rayford Griffin on drums, and Baron Browne on bass.

I would go if they came around here.

Guitarist Jamie Glaser lives in this area.

Great album

JLP!  LOVE this musician and his music. Listened to him a lot in the 1970's. Saw him a few times - always a big sound. Very transportational music.

One of his old guitarists - Jamie Glaser - is playing on this tour too.

right on, 6.  Only saw him once (mid-eighties) at a pretty good sized shed (Concord Pavilion)... probably the most I've heard him otherwise is on Zappa tracks.

yeah, I think I read that somewhere...

I bought Jamie's book for $5 electronic copy. Havent read it yet.

I saw Ponty one in the late 80s and then I saw him in Return to Forever a few years ago also.

I have all those 70's and early 80s albums on vinyl.

I saw Ponty in a trio with Stanley Clarke and Bela Fleck once in a smallish theatre. Three frickin' virtuosos just dishing it out left and right. Like Heaven, man!

I wouldn't mind if he squeezed in a date or two with Herring and the Mahavish

Saw him at Carnegie Hall.

BB's is one huge-ass downgrade.

1st found Ponty through his brief association with Zappa. Listened to a lot at college in the early 80's. Sex, rugs and Jean Luc Ponty worked real well in 1982.

Hmm heard he might be in Europe this summer too, definately a no miss zone
