Jambase TXR interviews part 2

Forums:

I'm enjoying reading this. Not Phil, but musicians who were there from the beginning.

A nice piece, but they should have talked with the staff as well.

The people who work & run a venue are the ones who know the REAL stories!

Thanks for Part 1, Mike. And yes, Lance, it would have been good to talk with the staff, too.

It occurs to me that Lance might be a good person to pen a staff piece. He's got a way with words, and scads of background knowledge on the subject.

I agree. It wouldn't be fluff, and it would be long enough to really explore the subject matter. Go Lance!

They do say at the bottom of the 2nd part that the 3rd segment will be talking with those who attended shows there; that would be the spot for stories from staff.

There were a few people who were involved with the place right from or very near the start through to the end, some rising through the ranks who saw things happen & evolve from behind the curtain.

Their stories, even edited versions (which would be a must) would be very good for this series. As someone who has worked in concert production in many capacities over many years, I can say without a doubt that those working a venue/shows have a perspective that simply can not be seen by the patrons.

It's good that Jambase is doing this piece. It's easy to romanticize a thing, especially after it's gone, and while I don't think TxR was the greatest place of all time it was a great place, and more importantly I don't think there's ever been any place remotely like it, and probably there never will be another remotely like it, so it should be remembered.

>>>Go Lance<<<

Well, I suppose I'd have a story or three to tell, and I always have an opinion, but I can think of two or three other people with much better/deeper perspectives that should be heard from.

One or two who might just be reading this thread.

TXR was a venue like no other for sure. I know I have a perspective that's unique for dure.

why no sourdough?

Part 3: Barflies, locals, aging deadheads, out of towners and the all mighty hoodie mafia!!
