Jamais vu

Anyone ever experience this?

In psychology, jamais vu (/ˈʒæmeɪ ˈvuː/; French pronunciation: [ʒa.mɛ.vy]), a French borrowing meaning "never seen", refers to the phenomenon of experiencing a situation that one recognizes in some fashion, but nonetheless seems very unfamiliar.

I was in my local Giant and although I drove there and walked in, once inside it seemed that I was in a grocery store that I have never visited before. The complete opposite of Deja vu! It seemed to last for most all of the shopping there, very strong but wavering slightly down at times. This was during the afternoon and there were no intoxicants involved. To tell you the truth, it was kind of scary because deep down I knew this was my grocery that I have visited hundreds of times before.

Something similar happened to me after I ate a gram of hash at the Waterfront Blues Festival a few years back.  After a while, I didn't know what was going on and had to use street signs to navigate back to my office which was only a few blocks away, otherwise I would have been completely lost.

Carlin called it Vuja De. Does it seem like you have never been here before.

I was walking down the driveway a couple of years ago when suddenly my vision changed, as though someone had switched the aspect ratio on a TV. Everything looked flat and wide. It lasted for about a minute and then went back to normal.

No heavy drugs were taken before this alteration of perspective.
