Jack White - No Phones Allowed

Forums:

He isn't allowing phones at his shows. They hand out pouches that lock them up, and can only be unlocked in the lobby.

The trauma!

One of the few acts where I've walked out early. Just terrible.

Nobody wants to video him.

Huge fan of Jack White. I love this policy.

I'm also a fan of Jack White but I'm a bigger fan of this policy. Now that may seem self serving given that my profession is taking photos of concerts. Most shows I go to these days are almost unwatchable due to the sheer amount of screens that are up in the air. Many people never bring them down. They just keep clicking or videoing the whole show. When I photograph a concert, I take my photos and do my best to disappear before I block anyone's view. I understand that I am not the person the audience paid money to see. For most shows these day, the audience doesn't realize that simple thing.

Well said, Tony.

For me, the relentless talkers are a bigger annoyance; but the sea of screens is also unwelcome in my concert experience.

Jack White had a similar policy in '14 (although without the phone bag tech), and the show we saw also happened to be one of those magical summer rain nights @ Red Rocks; but overall people seemed to respect it and it was a great night of music.

I see no downside here.

He doesn’t want to have to look at YouTube videos later on of him fucking something up in a song. Pretty genius, actually.

He is dialing it back.

I'd rather have a swarm of  happy people trying to take single shot of the act they paid for at the start or end of a show; then an obnoxious professional photographer, with six cameras around his neck and spit on his back.

Good name for an album but I'm not a fan of this policy.

Now if we can just address the fans bringing giant signs to hold up in front of me

Jack White the new Ryan Adams

he should kill himself

Why?
