It's getting warm out there

Forums:

the 109-degree reading in Quriyat, Oman, on June 28 amazed meteorologists because that wasn’t the day’s high temperature. That was the low . It was the hottest low temperature ever recorded on Earth.

I recently read a rather compelling scientific piece that said it wasn't so much the carbon footprint that was causing global warming, it was electricity in general. Any transmission of electricity produces heat and worldwide electricity use produces a shit ton of heat.

There’s not one particular thing causing it unless you want to blame humans.  Then it’s pretty much just one thing.

Everybody's a scientist, I guess.

The More The Humans = The More USAGE Of Everything ! Including Pollution !

Just wait until the Chinese and Indians start consuming like Americans.

My first degree was in Atmospheric Physics, FWIW (cost a lot of money to be all uppity with that degree, might as well exploit it, since every aspect of the field has been decimated by republican administrations from Reagan on.  But it did give a cool non-music nickname;  Dr. Dewpoint, circa 1983).

The equation for CO2 being a blackbody emitter (and agent of atmospheric warming) is from the 1880/1890's.

The term "climate change" came from a right wing think tank that didn't like the term "global warming"  (was green house gases before that for those of you keeping score at home)

The sun has been in a state of very low activity for over a decade. In fact, the last solar maximum was lower output than most solar minimums.  We should be in a mini ice-age right now due to the suns current quiet phase.  I don't even want to consider what temperatures would be like if the sun was active!  (you seriously don't want to go there!)

There has been "climatic change" in recent years, not in terms of weather, but in terms of shifts in the Rossby wave patterns (that's the hemispheric pattern of High / Low pressure circulations, and the resultant patters of weather (migration of vorticity centers, etc) that creates the actual weather civilians follow.  The exposure of liquid water in the arctic where it's historically been ice has been a player, as that adds a lot of potential energy to the system  (like lake effect snows around the great lakes, when liquid get pounded with snow, when ice, more standard snowfalls).

Next time someone says they don't believe in man made warming, tell the to kiss (or stick some anatomy) into your cars tailpipe after driving a bit, maybe they'll feel that manmade heat (let alone complicated atmospheric chemistry)

On an unrelated note, really enjoying a little gypsy / ska / klezmer from Bosnia at the moment;

I Still Believe The Earth and Seas Are Gnarlier Than Humans   ! humans just tiny specs Trying to survive for 90 years or So.................

>>>> humans just tiny specs

Yes, and the Earth is running a fever to get rid of those specs.

Ken good point The Earth will Rid what it has to Rid in the Future a ReBalance  ? Earth  Knows What The Hell It Is Doing #wearesmall
