IT WAS THE MUSIC: Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams

Forums:

A ten part film/documentary that follows Larry and Theresa on their journey of making music together.....

A love story about two working musicians, who step into the limelight to make it on their own.

Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams pack their bags, guitars, amps and thirty-year marriage into their SUV and set out across America to sing their own songs: riveting interpretations of American Gospel, Blues, Country and good old Rock ‘n’ Roll. Can this unique musical duo, he from New York’s East Side, she from rural West Tennessee, start over as relevant artists in today’s changed musical landscape?

As the story moves forward, it’s filled with great musicians who also help us journey back to the halcyon days of the sixties and early seventies, when music had the power to bring us together.

Thanks for the heads up, Thom. Great couple. Humble. Seen 'em a few times, once with Jorma for one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Your link had an extra space at the end and didn't work.  This one should. https://www.itwasthemusic.net/index.html

The reality is that guys like Larry rarely ever 'make it'--in the sense of assigning a definition on the concept of 'making it'.  They get lucky sometimes, being involved in a recording session that strikes big or as a backing musician on a big tour --- all though most everytime being the best musician in every room.  Larry can tell you more than most about how strange the music business is.  One week your touring around the world with Dylan, the next week playing infront of 10 people--5 of which aren't paying one bit of attention.  Personally I love that Phil brought them both into the fold.  If the '05 band stayed the course they would have been a force to reckon with and reviled if not surpassed PLQ.

Thanks for the link and ill check it out soon.

Thanks Slick.  Apparently cutting and pasting isn't as easy as it used to be

The guy responsible for this is in the library today working with my wife in Special Collections researching material for another project he's working on.  I was hoping to have the opportunity to spend some time with him and run a few questions by him but he's got a tight schedule so that probably won't happen.  He does really good work so this should be very well done.  Here's another film he made that we watched over the weekend

It's about him tracking down the author of a book that he read in 1972 that got incredible reviews, went nowhere, and the guy vanished.  A great story, worth your time.

You just went a little too far to the right, Thom!  LOL. Kidding.

Yeah, if you hit the space bar after, sometimes it includes the space and messes with the link. Only reason I know is I've done it.
