The Kurds are the largest, nation-less nation on the planet and its high time that get an independent Kurdistan, ideally with Turkey, Iraq, Syria, and Iran ceding a portion of their respective territories to create that space. That is not going to happen though (although there is a de facto Kurdistan already in place in much of that area), so the question is what role should the United States play in the development of a truly independent Kurdistan or maintaining the status of quo of the de facto Kurdistan, which includes much of NE Syria.
But if any American president said, jeeze, we would like to help but we really need to stop playing the world's policeman and should instead send all of our troops home and spend all that money on healthcare and education, I could get behind that. The US is surrounded by two vast oceans and has a larger, more powerful navy than the rest of the world combined. If we wanted, we could let the rest of the world do its thing, sit back, and survive pretty comfortably.
However, if the plan is to remain involved in the Middle East, you need to have clearly defied goals and some idea of how to achieve those goals. I simply don't see that happening under the present administration (for what its worth, US Middle East policy was also lacking under the last couple of administrations too).
i am all for getting out of the Middle East but without a major effort to get off of oil at all cost, it’s a stupid plan
and you do not leave allies to get slaughtered after they performed so well, but then again they are just potential immigrants, so fuck them is the new slogan.
Pat Robertson is the only preacher that can issue the mandate from heaven? He needs to put the crown up in a title match with another preacher, he has not defended his title in ages. I being a non practicing Catholic would still put my money on The Pope but he has been blackballed from any title considerations, maybe Jesse Jackson could step up, its not like Pat is all jacked up like in his early days of title defenses
>President Donald Trump on Wednesday continued to defend his decision to withdraw US troops from northeast Syria, abandoning Kurdish forces in the region, by saying the Kurds did not help the US during World War II.
"They didn't help us in the Second World War, they didn't help us with Normandy," Trump said of the Kurds, who played a vital role in the US-led campaign against ISIS.
And when asked by reporters whether he felt the Syria retreat and treatment of the Kurds sent a poor message to other US allies, Trump said, "Alliances are very easy."
Trump's comments came hours after Turkey launched a military operation against the formerly US-backed Kurdish forces in Syria.

Great fucking job stump, and shame on all his deaf dumb n blind followers
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite

Well, no, they were keeping the peace: protecting Kurds from Turkey, and Turkey from Kurds..
Kind of like we do in Korea.
The Kurds defeated ISIS, and were in charge of keeping them locked up.
