Ip Man II v. Rocky IV

Forums:

Aside from no live music or international travel (and lots of sick and dead people), the worst thing about the Covid pandemic is no Kung Fu nights at the Hollywood theater.   Still, Netfilx is now showing all the Ip Man films.  Never seen them before and really enjoying these modern, big budget movies with incredible fight scenes about the historic 20th Century Kung Fu master who, among other things, trained Bruce Lee,

Watched Ip Man II the other night and its a Chinese remake of Rocky IV.   Seriously.  Exact same story line.  Rocky IV is best of the sequels (it has James Brown!) and is a classic piece of Reagan era Cold War propaganda.

Seen any good martial arts films lately?    What is the best Rocky movie?

Don't care for martial arts films, but am a fan of What's up Tiger lily? But there's the creepy Woody  Allen connection.

Rocky is the best. Should have stopped at the first one.

I liked Rocky III more than IV, with an understanding that IV is a better film. He was the "people's champion," and there was something to be said for the Soviet announcers and crowd rooting for him at the end. Rocky trained like a Soviet and Drago trained like a Capitalist swine.

Fans of ludicrous Kung-fu should check out Into The Badlands.  Nick Frost provides comic relief.
