Inland Empire is definitely not for the cinema-going masses...and I thought Eraserhead was weird and disturbing!
Just binge watched Twin Peaks:The Return recently. It has been described as "pure heroin Lynch", and that seems appropriate. The behind-the-scenes extras on the blu-ray give an interesting glimpse of Lynch at work - he is truly an uncompromising visionary who is hands on with micro-managing everything from cast direction, editing, soundtrack, and even applies the fake blood on the actors himself. Just don't tell him his scenes go on 'too long', or you will bear his wrath, as someone on the set did.
