... at a school crosswalk in your neighborhood, would you and your fellow neighbors consider it an egregiously dangerous pattern that needs to be immediately dealt with?
The answer to the question should be obvious to all, yet why does seditious conspiracy somehow get relegated to the backburner by some; as if undermining the headwaters of the Rule of Law will not entail any significant harmful consequences?

Valve stems
all five of them
this of course assumes you and all of the concerned neighbors have a already shared your frustrations (unsuccessfully) with said driver

My understanding is the DOJ doesn't bring charges until they've built a pretty much slam dunk case. What might appear to be the backburner are scrupulously methodical processes and strict adherence to the rule of law.
That said, I want to know more about the valve stems. Five of them?

It takes about three seconds
It takes about three seconds to remove a valve stem from a car/truck tire. The tire obviously goes flat and is replaced with the spare. Back on the road.
If a valve stem is removed while the tire is on the car, the tire deflates and the weight of the vehicle also unseats the tire bead from the wheel; requiring wheel removal and reseating before reinflation.
Now if all four are removed the car can't be towed traditionally. You specifically need a flatbed wrecker to take it to a shop to have all four remounted and also to buy about three dollars worth of valve stems.
Now the owner of these airless tires is missing work, or vacation, or surgery, or whatever they had planned that day. This is almost certain. Plus a hefty tow/repair bill.
The fifth one (if it's accessible, like on a pickup truck) - because they will also be fucked the next time if they get a flat in the future.
Because fuck 'em!

My post was not necessarily about the DOJ and how they approach this matter, but more about how one of the gravest criminal charges that can be levied does not seem to register as being associated with a criminal act that may ultimately entail real-world consequences that are FAR more severe in terms of a massive breakdown of civil order / increase in violence for an unknown (if not permanent) duration.
My suspicion is that in most locales, it really wouldn't matter what side of the political spectrum you and your neighbors might fall on to nearly unanimously agree that a dangerous menace within the neighborhood needs to be dealt with immediately and in a decisive manner, yet the act of a seditious conspiracy remains a far off abstraction that only happens on Netflix and can otherwise be compartmentalized into "political theater".

I don't claim to have any easy answers, but how does this thread not illustrate how elusive it is for people to "connect the dots" between what looms on the horizon and what is unfolding on a daily basis right before our eyes?
I chose a habitual reckless driver as an example where people can readily sense the imminent harm related to an ongoing situation and would get off their asses immediately to do something, yet the insurrection still seems to be considered "just a narrative". Imagine if your kid almost got run over by the hypothetical reckless driver and when you spoke to your neighbors about it, it was like talking about a reality tv show instead of what's happening right outside your front door.

We're several hundred news cycles removed from the events of January 6th, and I'm not saying it's right, but a lot of people are more concerned about what the Kardashians are up to or the latest TikTok trend than a failed insurrection a year and a half ago. I'm happy to say I'm not one of those, so when you brought up seditious conspiracy in your OP, I immediately thought of the story about some of the Proud Boys who were charged with that crime yesterday.
And thanks, Bss. I forgot about the spare.

I feel your pain, but I'm not
I feel your pain, but I'm not sure if this is a real sitch or an example of our über fucked up society anymore.
what if your new neighbor with Baltimore prison tats abuses and neglects his young rottie that he "paid $2500 for" when his last house burned down (with 2 dogs in it)
I agree that the off the rails new world is dangerous.
Today I was giving the pup water as his way too small dish was flipped over empty.
Without all the crazy backstory, I'll say he's a raging alcoholic and her drugs of choice, as she shared with me: coke and meth.
It was kinda funny when, out of the blue of him yelling at me for intruding on his yard, he says "if you report me, I'll report you!"
Ok I can't resist a good (horrible) backstory: they moved into a place with failing septic, star crossed high school sweethearts who reunited 20 years later, and got this place together. She's got twin boys who don't know if they're 10 or 12. The puppy was tiny when they got here and from then until now the only time he appears outside is tied up on a short leash with no toys or anything but that little water dish.
In the beginning I tried to help. There was no way i could ignore what was going on. Like when the boys and dog were left there alone overnight on a Saturday. On Sunday, they were going crazy outside and told me they had no food or drinks in the house. Mom and guy left sat afternoon and basically never came back or said where they'd be. The boys had the mom's cellphone and had been trying to call the guy's phone to no avail.
After spending all afternoon feeding and caring for them, we finally reached the mother and they got back about 6pm that evening
One of many shitty things that have happened over there, right out in the open: Screaming, fighting, him wasted, passed out on his giant riding mower with smirnoff nips strewn about.
So, yea.
I did witchy things of protection after his meltdown this day. If only they lived more than 20 feet away lol d'oh.
It's hard to feel safe in a world where folks are emboldened to be pretty calvary violent to others over shit like parking disputes, stop signs, or no reason at fucking all.
And where we live is an impoverished area, so also that.
All that said on my sweet sweet thread hijacking blog ~
I really love our home
