I was asked if I was religious.

Forums:

Last night I was asked by a fine person if I was religious.

I said, "No I'm not, why do you ask?"

He responded, "Because you're so nice."

I didn't think that much about it until a bit later while driving a fairly long stretch home, when I began wondering why one might be considered religious just because they tend to be a nice person?

And now I'm thinking about it again, a few tequila's in me after a sad visit with my dear, fading mother and watching & appreciating those who care for her so kindly, and I begin to feel that it's a minor shame that being nice needs some type of reason or justification, that it isn't naturally just the way we are.

Why can't we all just be nice when we CAN be? It's not weakness. Many believe that it is, but really it's not.

It's just being nice.

So I say, even when you don't HAVE to be nice...

Be nice anyway.

For the greater good.

Or maybe just for your own good.

(Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm VLZUI. So shoot me)

You're a dear man, Lance. Much love.

Spirituality > Religion.

Sometimes you'll get that question before you are executed,

well at least one time

I find the most of the time the more religious one is the more intolarent they are lots of hate among them. Whole idea of a god in this day and age is insane.

Fine, fine.....but,.....are you kind?

Mickey wants to know....

If you were religious you could just act like a dick and than ask for forgiveness on Sunday.

It's nice to be nice!

I don't think I know anyone that isn't nice.

Everybody I know is nice as well. What's unusual about that?

I don't know anyone that thinks being nice is a weakness.

I'm surrounded by people who are kind to a fault.

My problem is when the nice-ness gets fake and saccharine, which is happens all too often these days.

Thought this was going to be a Poz thread.

Seem to remember him making threads about not needing to be religious to be kind back in the day.

If one is nice or kind simply based around them being religious - that is phony to me.

One should be nice/kind because it's the right thing to do. Period.

Being religious entails being a nice person to all people, animals and our planet; not just the diction of your services of when, who, and how you congregate.

I'm religious about that.

Peace be with you.

Well, you religiously "go to the show"

That's gotta count for something.

Should have told her, "No I'm just heavily medicated."
