I let Donald Fagan borrow my backing band.... :->

Forums:

I supported myself with my wooden guitar for a few years, playing solo gigs in northern NJ and lower NY. When I met and instantly fell in love with Lisa, she had a 4 year old son and I literally had holes in my Keds hightops.

Mesaid to meself .... I stand no chance with this woman unless I get a real job, which I did.

Fast forward ~30 years, my Mom had passed and left me some money. I chose to use it to record some of my original music backed by some Hudson Valley All Star Musicians. Was lucky to be friends with Butch, who was the post Robbie The Band's (and Levon and Rick's) Road Manager. He was plugged in to the local scene and talent.

Pretty proud of the resulting CD.

But, today, I stumbled upon Donald Fagan doing Shakedown St  -- and his backing band was the same as mine.

How cool was that?

My music here ... there are 4 videos.    www.mere-mortals.net

In two weeks, I have several of the same musicians in line (including Levon's killer drummer & Grandson Lee Collins) for a live show. The Band had The Last Waltz?   This is my Last Watusi.....

As Aldous Huxley wrote: Excruciating Orgasms of self assertion.

GTTS or BE the Show one last time .....

I like Shantytown....good job

Thanks Much-ly Alan!

Great story!  Looking forward to checking out your songs tomorrow!

Thanks Druba!

Seeing the naked pole humper dude in Riff Rock cracked me up. I thought Jenny was pretty sweet too. Nice work, Don.

Naked pole Dude is a classic, Mike!

The song Jenny would have been longer, but when I arrived in AZ from NY, Jenny's new boyfriend answered the door..... long drive home

Nice Don! Hudson Valley music! Awesome! Used to see The Band less Robbie a fair bit when I lived in New Paltz at some restaurant in either Woodstock or Kingston or possibly both. It's all a blur 40+ years later.

Does anyone from the Hudson Valley/ New Paltz remember The Whippets and Last Generation? Their guitarist Teddy could freaking SHRED. They played Coochies weekly as I recall.

Last Generation is still a band. Although what I'm looking at now is completely different from what I saw from 81-86.

Lots of Old New Paltz being torn down as money moves in these days.....

My radio commercial on 98.1FM linked below and will be doing a Be A DJ Hour on 100.1 Radio Woodstock day of show as well. This is my ...... Last Watusi after all

My grown kids are amused but supportive. My wife  keeps asking me about money.

But, I am still making good money, just started collecting Social Security and THIS is the sandbox that I want to play in dammit! I can't go to work just to pay my phone bill at work.

Wake Up To Find Out That You Are The Eyes of the World!

So, I am going in to this gig with both feet...  anyway ......  Donald Fagan likes my band
