I know there's quite a few NW'ers in the group, so figured i'd put out a plug for the show before it sells out.  Tickets just went on sale today!

American Strings: An Evening with Hot Tuna (Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Cassady)

April 8 at 7:30pm
Starker Auditorium
Tickets: $20 in advance $25 at the door
Content: All Audiences

Kaukonen and Casady, friends since childhood, were founding members of the counterculture-era, psychedelic rock group, “Jefferson Airplane,” alongside Marty Balin, Paul Kantner, Spencer Dryden and Grace Slick. The duo’s blues-rock group, Hot Tuna, initially was started in 1969 as a side project to keep Kaukonen and Casady playing music during a period when Airplane’s Slick was on vocal rest.

Now, more than 50 years later, Hot Tuna has recorded two dozen albums, played thousands of concerts around the world and experienced a legendary career of performing roots-based electric and acoustic blues music that continues to this day and includes a roster of well-known guest artists.

Hosted by OSU Director of Popular Music and Performing Arts, Bob Santelli, each segment of American Strings is comprised of a conversation, audience Q&A, and performance, making for a one of a kind opportunity to appreciate and know better the great American music tradition.

Can't believe I'm gonna pass on hometown Tuna, but the last time I went to one of those American Strings things (Arlo Guthrie's daughter), it was an hour of lame questions and a half hour of music. YMMV.

I've smoked a joint w/ them before, maybe i'll get to again, lol...

Saw Bill Frisell and Thomas Morgan last year in the MU, got to ask Bill a question as part of the Q&A (about John Zorn, gave a very long answer, including how he met his wife, who does sound for them, was fun)

What would you ask Jorma / Jack?

Noods,

Thanks. Hell Yes

What would you ask Jorma /Jack?

What do you prefer more Starkist or Bumble Bee?

This could be interesting

Wow, shit!  Box office is closed....!  How grand.  Loved their last show at odd fellows....or was it on ninth?  Long ago....

Ouch. Audience Q&A.

That's always just the worst.

Actually it was the host with the lame questions.

"Remember when you guys were in Jefferson Airplane?....That was cool, huh?"

Thanks to Dave Wolf!

Claudia, who booked the show, got the original copies (my copy got lost decades ago).  I worked the show, so was a benny.  I was a huge bootleg collector back then, can't remember if Dave got his copy from me, Bill, or Claudia, either way, was damn cool of him to digitize it!!!  Kudos!
