Home Alone

Forums:

Since COVID lockdowns began, how much time do you, on average, get to be home alone? What's the longest you've had the house to yourself?

I average about an hour a week, the time it takes my SO to run random errands. The longest I've been home alone is a whopping 3 hours, the time she got a haircut.

If all goes well, I'll get 4 hours of solitude today. Nice!

It's definitely tough.   Starting to get more as my wife started getting the vaccine and going back to work.   Kids are back and forth, some days virtual some in school.  There is no schedule, pure chaos.   I'm looking forward to summer

No time alone now that I got Salem. Oh yeah, wife works from home, till retirement it seems, and a daughter,, but she already has plans to move out after Masters completed in May. How I use my time now has completely changed. I had to do some hard calculations yesterday on how long he naps vs how long it takes to bottle a batch of beer. He requires more time right now than a human baby, and I'll not be letting him down by not being there as much as I possibly can for him.

Time alone w/out humans,,, about 2-3 hrs a week when wife goes to see mom

I count it as being alone when my dog is here, mostly because he's fucking awesome.

I've been working from home for a year.

My wife does 3 - 12 hr shifts a week.

So there is significant time when it's just me and this girl...

Quite a bit.  My wife's WFH situation has been on/off. Her place of biz is presently open.  Check back here next Monday, tho'.  Hard to keep a department open when Maskholes & Covidiots are busy infecting their families (R.I.P., "A".) and co-workers.   Plus, she spent a week last summer in her brother's "bubble" (three of four there never saw anyone; the fourth was out of state).  Also, about half of my shift (WFH) occurs while she's in dreamland.

Sat. 3/13 was the anniversary of my last shift in the office; last Nemo's Chocolate Cake from the deli on 8th ave; last order of Orange Beef from China Gourmet (Also on 8th).

The last time I rode a bus.  Don't miss that at all but I do miss hoofing it through the freak show of Midtown.

Slightly off topic.

The new wave of food delivery services tv commercials with the door bell sounds keeps my mutt rather busy.

i get, on average, 5 1/2 days per week alone...i have a WFH gig ( limited travel for biz these days as opposed to last year ) - my wife is a Dental assistant and since last May has been back full time - she has a long commute ( 88 miles each way ) and stays with a girlfriend near her office...she leaves on Mondays and comes home on saturday afternoons so its just me and the dogs and its not bad at all....

Ras - that is one good looking puppy

All my clients these days are lawyers and the divorce attorneys business is through the roof right now. Seems we aren't all doing so well being around our spouses all the time. I went from not seeing my wife at a minimum 5 days a month to 24/7/365 being together. It's been interesting, but very ready for some alone time.

mostly just myself and the green queens. 6 days a week. I work for myself, but a few times a week a friend drops by.  It has been very interesting to hear neighbors and friends talking both sides of the coin since the past year of change. Some love the companionship and others (mostly) are wanting some much needed solitude.

Loneliness is a common form of depression. Solitude is a gift

Today was the first time in over a year that I went out and returned to a house with no other humans in it.

^ what was the feeling ?  TZ ?  Twilight Zone ?

Somewhere between Twilight Zone and fantastic!

Only time I can get a decent picture is when he's sleepin, other than that he's a constant blurr of activity.

He's gaining weight,  I'm losing it walking him all the time, plus less time to snack on all the nighttime bad shit,, I don't want to set a bad example.
